So what happens if we get hand outs ? What happens if the afl take more control ?

Can't see it making a big difference in the grand scheme of things. Might even turn out we get better.

Normally easy for me to find out - but no one seems to know.

Mars were chipping in $1.3million, Acquire Learning are chipping in $400k but they own 65% of CareerOne - so it might be a little complicated. Ikon have a year to run at $1million and Hyundai another 2 @ $1.7m.

Will be interesting to see the detail when the Annual Report is released, but the last 2 years have been write off's.

Can't keep having results like this though. Would need to compare to last years results to see if there are any positive differences. Would hope to see some growth in revenue and maybe some one off payments effecting the result. Hopefully a drop in total coaching wages going forward with Malthouse, Wiley, Laidley being replaced with cheaper alternatives.

The debt itself is not a real issue, as long as we can service it going forward.

We will need to reply on contributions from the big boys and girls in the short term. That should mean we don't need to hand over keys or more control to the AFL.

Trigg and the board have a lot of work to do. Much like our 2011 slogan there needs to be

Image

Fans and sponsors won't be easy to attract with less tv exposure from next season. Have to build on their existing revenue streams and find some new ones, cut expenses while maintaining a working staff and facilities for players. Repair our broken image and reputation.

As was mentioned earlier, contacting lapsed members would be a good start. An additional 5,000 members @ $260 and we're halfway there. It's a goldmine waiting to happen.

We need to be bold and innovative.

Do we have it in us?

Its not huge money.

We need 20 of the abovementioned to be a 'half decent' club.

What I do know is there's thousands of hypernating Carlton supporters. They haven't had anything to support with pleasure for 20 years. The last 2 decades have been [REDACTED]. Parents cant emgrace engage their kids let alone their grandchildren.

Carlton need to create a winning culture. Period.

We win, they grin. $$$$$

Not surprised to read this. the CFC is quite possibly the worst run professional sporting club in the world.

Not so long ago an AFL basket case, the Melbourne Football Club will record another strong profit this year and buck the trend of mounting debt that continues to spread across the competition.
While still battling to attract strong attendances and membership numbers throughout another disappointing on-field season, the Demons are expected to announce a profit of close to $500,000, after finishing in the black in 2014 to the tune of $300,000.
In what has emerged as a positive example of head-office intervention, it is now two years since the AFL brought in former Essendon* CEO and AFL Victoria chairman Peter Jackson to run the club.

AFL intervention doesn't sound all that bad

Sounds simple but they've lost a generation or two. My daughters Primary School had a 'dress in your footy gear' day and there was barely a Carlton jumper in sight. Across 60 Preps there was 1 Carlton fan.

I would prefer the AFL take control. It might actually help us. No more stupid contract decisions and multi million dollar pay outs.

Smart strategy take the money off the middle man and low income supporters rather than the rich billionaires.
Its working a treat down in Canberra so I can see no reason why Carlton should not adopt the same philosophy

Yep, the future looks bleak. My Son in Law and I are battling to keep my 7yo grandson loyal, keeps saying he wants to support Hawthorn. At his schools "dress in footy gear" day there were a few Carlton jumpers (vast number of Hawthorn) this in a traditionally strong Carlton area. He says his friends laugh at him for being a Carlton supporter. The 4yo loves Carlton, but then he's yet to contend with the peer pressure at school.

A make or break year coming up I fear.

AFL are in control!
Etihad stadium deal is our biggest issue. AFL have not supported us and don't care.
It fills there back pockets right now and that is all that matters.

The fact is that thanks to this current board, we've become a laughing stock. When other teams have a rough trot or make poor decisions, there's an element of sympathy or irrelevance. But not with us. Our poor decisions and results continue to provide our enemies with endless enjoyment, and 'da footy meedya' make sure this fire remains fuelled with unrestrained glee.

It's hardly a wonder people have been dropping off. There's only so much humiliation people can take.

My kids were almost embarrassed
Ask me why I started barracking for the Blues.
They have known nothing but shiteness ...

Mine wasn't the one in Carlton gear. I wouldn't do that to her!
