Eddie talking sense. A lot of Melbourne clubs are stuffed due to being in no mans land when the two new clubs took all the players from the draft.

Teams have been down for a long time at a time when things were designed to be equalised.

The AFL have to rethink things.

His comments were nonsense.

"AFL needs to do something to get Essendon*** and Carlton up the top". Give me a spell.

We've both been [REDACTED] for 15 years and for differing resasons, only have ourselves to blame. We've had first round draft picks, priority picks, AFL funded assistance and yet still at rock bottom.

Blaming expansions teams is a complete cop out.

Clubs already near the top had a clear advantage over others when the expansion teams came in ... it made it harder for the other clubs to catch up on them because they never got the good draft picks.

Hawthorn got a massive boost to their rebuild when they picked up Buddy and Roughead in 2004 draft ... if the expansion teams came in at that time they would never have had those players.

So if you were already up there the system made it harder for others to narrow the gap.

Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong all won recent flags, Richmond, WB, St Kilda, Melbourne all improving, Nth in a Prelim last year. Three of those clubs have 70,000+ members.

We're our own worst enemy.

We made massive mistakes at the end of 2012 when the list should have been reshaped. Mick sat on his hands. Cost us.
The three amigos needed breaking up. Jamo should have netted us a player or pick. Walker could have been sold off reasonably high. There were players everywhere on the list that had been making the same mistakes each year. We did nothing. We are paying for all that now.

However, the compromised drafts and free agency have not helped the blues either. Has helped other clubs that were set list wise.

The big shots of the league can see things are going in a bad way. Eddies comments. Clarksons presser. People know what is going down. AFL is dying. Carlton fans dropping off and EFC* fans about to drop off will be a big part of the bleak future of the Afl.

Box Hill would have beat the Blues last night.

At the game last night, if half your backline is just going to give up at the 10 minute mark then what future have we got, Jamo, Touhy, Yazz have any of you heard of leadership? awful attitudes all night, at least Simmo, Docherty, and Buckley had a go as always.

Jamo outbustled in marking contests by Hill....give me a break, he just didn't care. Zac half hearted against Gunston all night, just too hard for him so he tanked it.

How many Carlton fans will be going to the round 23 re match

What a waste of time.

you probably went, hoping we'd play that exciting, direct brand of footy we played
a few weeks back?
You would not have cared if we'd lost, but there would have been enough exciting moments
to show you the team had promise?

Is that a fair call kezza?

It matters so much to me what type of playing style we are going to stand for.
thus,
what type of coach.
but, not really the coach,
as it seems the game style will be decided by the recruiters, and maybe the list managers.
ffs!

Holman's report was the highlight of the night. I like that kid.

Thought Boek showed glimpses. And in a 138 pt loss - that's no mean feat.

I went along not expecting to win but at least some sort of effort.
I have been going to the footy for close to 40 years, I am lucky that I experienced our successful era's.
I go each week regardless of how we are performing but I do expect the players to have a little bit of pride in the jumper.
I felt for Murphy, he played really well. Kreuzer tries hard as usual and Cripps showed he can match it with best.
I can take big losses but to not show any effort is not acceptable.
On another note, the umpiring was again disgraceful and it doesnt help when the opposition keeps getting handed goals from soft frees.

i thought we'd roll over, eventually. But to see it after 10 mins in the first quarter was extremely distressing.

Just so bloody frustrating and there is no end in sight.

Went last night. The Hawks are ruthless - damn them.

Swans beaten the week before by 15 goals us by 23 goals. Sort of makes sense.

I thought our mainstays in defence Jamo/Rowe & Tuohy were poor.

What I wanted to see was more of the effort & the 1%"s.

Hawks are always in perpetual motion.

Why would we not make this a focus & attempt to slow down their quick handball after a mark or free kick either legally or not. The amount of times the Hawks moved off their mark to create movement upfield is amazing. Could we not counter this by holding onto them? Sure we'd concede a few 50's but so what?

Finally l struggle to see how a massive slaughter enables growth in the young players.

I went horrid night but saw a scintilla of light thought Bokehorst had his best game -didn't look like a deer in the headlights -got a lot to learn but took a good mark and goal -also more purposeful with disposals
Like goal and mark because about 5 mins before tried to take mark of the year -went early and did affect contest 5 mins later took good mark and goaled
Cripps played well and despite the heat and being murdered at the coal face did well
Holman also showed glimpses
Buckley whilst shocking a couple of times with disposal -really did a job on roiling who really didn't impact the game like he has the last 2 and Buckley did fantastic tackle on that bloody poppy and umpire said too high shocking
Murphy did really well last night too

PS we are shocking at the moment but umpires murdered us

Kezza I do think there is light at the end of the tunnel

Got to remember last night we had Gibbs Judd knockers carrazzo Thomas Menzel walker graham out

Average games in our side 70 _ average hawthorn 140

Keep supporting the blues we will come good at least we seem to be embracing youth realise that we need more young talent -will involve some pain but as I said in my earlier post saw some glimpses from our really young guys last night to have hope for the future

yes.
you are one of the many stawlwarts of the club kezza.
I believe if we don't get it right this time, many precious members like you may be lost.
After all, why would you continue going to see a team with no dash 0r dare?
Especially when we know we are in for a good many losses over the next year or two.
I know for the 1st time I will not automatically renew.
I want to see who the new coach is, and what our vision for playing style will be.
I thought i know with Barks, but now I'm unsure again.
Off field I like him a lot.
I want details I can understand for our longer term philosophy, and if the game are going to
ply a certain way,
I want to be convinced of why it's a good thing.
Hire BV to sell it to me!
