Did you watch the game? Wood took marks, tackled, ran and presented, the things Warnock has not done for weeks.

Yes I watched it very carefully. The job of being a ruckman was not done well by Cameron Wood. He was beaten at the centre square. He was beaten at the boundary line throw ins. When the contested ball came down when he was not beaten he was then beaten.

He took 7 marks. Kicked a goal marking against a dwarf. That is amazing.

Good luck to the bloke. But the best you can possibly say for tonight is that he broke even with what you would expect from Warnock. Which is an OK result for him. Needs to back it up.

Please do not pump up the wood too much? You are not a wood pumper?

Really enjoyed the game. Great to hear the club song being sung in the final quarter.
Thought we were gone after half time when North came out firing, steadied well and didnt panic.
Gibbs was fantastic, Hendo great, i wish Waite could play like that every week.
Shame about Menzel, radio saying that he cant have a traditional reco as he has had lars. We all knew it would happen, he will probably be like Melcheski and have repeated operations. Fingers crossed it isnt but it would appear so. I didnt see it happen so was surprised when i heard the news.
We now have 13 days to enjoy this.

Had a feeling about tonight. Trotted along to Etihad wearing about 8 layers and had an enjoyable evening.

Sadly, ive been in meetings all frigen day! :-(

Missed the whole game. But wrapped we've won.

But shattered that we might go into next weeks game with no Mezel and No Robbo. It probably means we'll bring back McLean!

But i don't quite see how we can play Hendo / Waite and Levi in the same team?

Hendo is a tough one. Brilliant up forward but so important down back. Why can't he be a twin?

We are coming off a very low base and it was great to see a ruckman in a Carlton jumper make a significant contribution to the team effort. An aspect that has been missing for so long.

I am a Warnock fan but after his last few weeks I understood giving then other bloke a go.

For a guy playing his first senior game of footy in a couple of years & matched up against one of the better ruckman in the comp, Wood did pretty well. Yes he lost the hitout count but it's hardly like we were slaughtered in the midfield.

I'm more of a wood pecker than a pumper btw

I thought we were headed for another 'honourable loss' at 3/4 time, but the last quarter was a pleasant surprise.

Backline was good tonight. As others have said, Rowe is a much improved player and had a good game.

Nice to have some tall forwards catching it and kicking reasonable straight.

I enjoyed Graham's cameo.

I don't think there was a great deal in the Robbo report. He SHOULD be OK, but who knows what they will do....

Fingers crossed it's not a long term lay off for Menzel & Everitt. I won't mind if they don't play again this season, but fingers crossed we have some luck with injury and they are right for the start of the preseason.

Wood was soundly beaten in the ruck, but his around the ground work was decent. A fit and in form Warnock or Kreuzer would pants him IMO. Credit it to him and at the worst he is a handy stop gap.

Don't think I've ever seen this much improvement in such a short time from any player in the history of the game.

Essendon* had about 34 improve a bit in a short time...

I love the way that Gibbs has become a contested ball beast  he can only get better over the next few years.

Rowe and a White are becoming very dependable in the back half. It's not all bad for the years to come.

Really?

You have very low expectations.

Wood failed as a ruckman and also as an option around the ground in the packs and outside.

If only he was allowed to do the same in the early stages of his career?

If instead of being told to be a tagger or to play HBF for his first 100 games?

Imagine how much of a midfield contested beast GIBBS would be now given a CHANCE in the guts.

Ratten and the other coaches let players like GIBBS rot away from where they play their best football at the same time as giving Jordan Russell 100 games in the Carlton guernsey.

I can't always tell how important ruck knocks are but surely a ruckman who provides marking options as either a get out of gaol kick, forward target or defensive hole filler is something we don't seem to have.

He also seems a bit quicker to get he ball to boot and hand. Also seems to be able to take more of the game in.

I think Warnock has been very good and it's only recently he's fallen away but it is nice to have a guy who can do the other things as well.

So it hardly mattered if Russell played 1 game or 100. Zero impact on Gibbs. Redundant reasoning. Red herring. Irrelevant. Nuts.

Can you quote where I said Russell played HBF for 100 games?

Redundant reasoning needs some reasoning to make it redundant.

Thought a debt collector would know that.

You've got little credit left. Lucky you have multiple identities. Tough being on the run.

I sit on level 2 in the pocket where Graham kicked his goal. It was highlight of the night for me. Also, a thing you get a better appreciation of by being present, was the work rate. They all worked themselves into the ground. Very pleasing night.
