I personally won't rest until everyone on the 1995 senior list has had a role at the club. I'm going for Matt Clape as next senior coach, and Alan Thorpe as the new forwards coach.

Not a bad trivia game!

Who has been ticked off the list so far from the 95 team?

Board:
-Sticks
-Gleeson

Staff:
-Ratts
-McKay
-Mitchell

Pat time coaching:
-Diesel
-Bradley

Has Fraser Brown had any official capacity?

Has Kouta been employed for PR/ambassador ?

Was Madden on our books receiving paper bags at any stage?

I think we could get Manton in to teach the boys writing & poetry lessons as an extra curricular thing ... surely the AFL would love that kind of thing.

Are his kids going to be good enough to be genuine FS selections? Otherwise no reason to bring back SOS except to help the backman

Part of the reasoning with SOS as well as him being great buddies with the president is his intimate knowledge of the GWS list.....
Which if I were GWS I'd make sure he can't do business with any of them.
I hear we won't be chasing one million dollar guy next year( Dangerfield and Cameron)... Flush with salary cap space were going after two half million dollar types... That's what I hear...

You got it brother.

Flush with talent.

Aussie rules is huge in nsw.
Afl could stop promoting swans & GWS and the game would continue to grow.
Put it this way, there's a lot of players and amongst them a lot of talent.
The cream is in the academy.

Trick is to by pass swans. They are highly protective of that list. Yep list 2.

The draft numbers haven't matched with that view until very recently bondi, and that's down to the Swans' recent record, as well as the development programs that are in no small way fuelled by the academies.

The historic significance of Stephen Silvagni's imminent return to the Carlton Football Club should not be underestimated. Nor should the political devastation to Carlton and personal pain to SOS himself inflicted as a result of the salary cap scandal that decimated the Blues.

Silvagni is expected to be installed at the club he served as a player for 312 games by Christmas, or certainly before the start of next season. He will take over the list management role that has not exactly been a jewel in the Blues' crown for many years. Far from it.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/s ... 1rb9w.html

(The Blues were also fined $930,000 for the salary cap cheating involving both players along with Stephen O'Reilly and Fraser Brown. It remains amazing that the Blues' salary cap penalties were significantly harsher than those more recently handed to Essendon* for the Bombers' cavalier handling of their players' welfare with potentially harmful and illegal drugs.)

This seems to align with what was posted a few weeks by Brissy:

"Silvagni was disenchanted by his Giants CEO Dave Matthews, who threw a random offer in Steve Johnson's direction in the last hours of the turbulent trade period, and it was this that played a significant part in his decision to quit GWS while still contracted."

The point is not lost on me, but I was making the point that defacto the GWS list was our NSW player academy.

You know I dig you Mark and respect your involvement in Aussie rules out west.

I'm making a point based on my observations and sharing it. What's your point?

I'm in the east and youre in the west, and youve told me there's lots of talent out there.
I've meet talent scouts and yes I'm based at Trumper Park...Maclure territory...and I see talent and tonnes of it.
I see kids leaving rugby (both codes) and soccer to play Aussie rules.

There a lot of expats here and they know what it takes. Langfords son for eg.
There's tonnes of talent...and you know what...the Swans dont want anyone near it, especially those in the west.
Its not right!! I disagree with the way the Academy is working for the Swans.

That's my point. The Swanms are protective of a talent base they have priority access to. What was your point again?

Anyhow, lets catch up for a beer late January when I'm back in Sydney.

Not sure about that, but I see your point from a historical POV.

I'm referring to kids right now at the Academy and how they are recruited and the ones who will be recruited, and how they are hidden and how the Swans want them as their peoperty. Theres a reason for that: hot property. Not all of them, but more than the Swand need.

Just take Mitchell as an example, despite him being a F&S. He cant make the 22, and the Swans want Academy kids who are good enough to make the game their property...to squirrel. I'd like Carlon to have a shot at a couple, not the whole 50...just a couple.

We can get a couple from Vic, a couple from SA, couple from WA, couple from the largets population in the country (NSW) and one from tassie NT and Qld.....I bet we will have an amazing bunch of up and coming kids...whereby only 2-3 will make it....every year. Not bad hey?
