I'm interested you have Harry Madden as an almost Jezz. He's a maligned figure in some quarters. Do you have him as the best ruckman you've seen, or would you have Fitzpatrick ahead of him?

Hard one. I put Fitzpatrick ahead of Madden because he played at Centre Half Forward in a winning Grand Final and see the height difference as a function of different eras. Also Fitzpatrick really protected the misquito fleet and was a master at body positioning and bumping the opposition off the ball. Fitzpatrick is obviously a better leader

Yep, couldn't have put it better.

One player that doent get a mention but should is that fantastic number eight the great Trevor Keogh.A little maestro who was right up there with all the champs.

The first three are obvious:

Big Nick
Jezza
Doull

The next 8 positions are hard to fill only because I have too many to include but here goes

Buzz
Dominator
Sticks
Crosswell
Judd
SOS
Ashman
Diesel

..and somehow Kouta hasn't made the cut. Maybe instead of Ash or Buzz....ummm

I reckon Harry was a far better player than Fitzpatrick. Fitzy might have been a great leader, but he wasn't all that special as a player.

Interesting. I would probably judge from when I really started getting into footy during the mid 80's. In no order:

Kouta
Judd
Silvagni
Sticks
Ratten
Fevola
Diesel
The Dominator
Bradley
Rhys-Jones

So many others could get a gig. Peter Dean and Simmo very close, as was Harry.

I have seen them all since 1965 and near impossible on the general heading given.

Final specialists or leaders or longevity or match winners or able to do the spectacular, courage etc etc.

Final specialists - The Dominator

Leaders - Big Nick

Longevity - Big Nick, Doully, Simmo (just for carrying a bunch of ratbags), Bradley.

Match winners - Big Nick, Jezza, Kouta, Buzz, Juddy, Fev.

Spectacular - Jezza, Crosswell, Kouta, Buzz, SOS, Fev.

Courage - Dominator, Hunter, Simmo, SOS, Ashman

My personal favourite over all these years was little Rod Ashman. The head of the mozzy fleet. A little tank of a player something like Mitchell and Hannebury of the Swans combined. Could play inside and outside, kick goals, didn't mind the rough stuff, just a great CFC rover maybe the greatest.

Most Exciting to watch:

Jezza, Kouda, Buzz and Fev.

I didn't see this man play but he has a few pearls of wisdon that still apply. I didn't think it warranted a new thread and I couldn't think of anywhere else to put it.

Luckily for us, Big John had a leap and a half....

I'm from 1989 onwards:

Diesel
SOS
Braddles
Sticks
Ratts
Judd
Kouta
McKay
Dean
Simmo
Campo

Campo is very underrated,
Obviously due to the way things ended but was a fantastic player until 2001 and again had an excellent 2004.

Honorable mentions to Fev, Fraser Brown, Sexton (great in the mid 90s), Matty Lappin and Heath Scotland.

Also while not in this league Adrian Hickmott was a very good player and I think he gets unfairly overlooked.

Adrian Hickmott - "the hand grenade in our forward line" (David Parkin)
