Where did that run come from in the second half.

MM at least threw the side around and had a go as it certainly wasn't working in the first half. Might take a bit of momentum into next week.

Confidence is an amazing thing

Did it in round 1 against the Tigers.

Started with the bomb bomb bomb game plan....this week started with the extra tall and the bomb bomb bomb plan.

Then threw it all out the window - subbed off the tall, instructed them to take risks through the corridor - Yarran wing/HB. Use by hand. Play on....open the game up.

Pretty @#$%&! simple.

His stubbornness cost us the game against STK, almost lost it tonight.

A shame he can't put his ego to one side and play a team and style that suits the players from the start.

This is a run and carry team....it doesn't have Tippett Carey or Cloke.

We might win the next week running but we will never break into the top four with that style. That style is ok for bottom teams in the eight......

Depends what we're aiming at doing.

Exactly... not sure we as supporters know what we want.

Are we happy to just play finals and make up the numbers or do we want to be a contender?

Your theory is flawed, run for starters, in the the first 2qtrs they would not know what the meaning of the word run was, (lazy not working off the ball expecting someone else to do it ,reactive)then we go to carry, what the hell is that ,explain it to us because I doubt the players would understand that either
You need to show some intent in getting the ball by attacking it and showing some desire not waiting for someone else to make that decision.
Running is expected, desire is expected, lazy pre madonnas should not be tolerated,a and I have no doubt players will not be gifted 2 year contacts in the future because they kiss the coaches arse, and pump up his ego.!!proffessional Coaches and supporters expect 4 quarters of effort, give 100% effort, you have bad days or you are not as talentd as some but if you are lazy we as supporters and coaches see thru this. And if you do not like it fuckoff.

It was the Worst & Best Performance I have seen this year and for a very long time. We had two different teams playing a half each!!!

Let's not kid ourselves, We are in the Finals by default, GREAT feeling, however I still think we will just be making the numbers.

** The Worst Performance of the year-1st Half: What went Wrong? **

- The Worst Goal Kicking at Goal. It Started last week and we carried it over to this game. I didn't think it was a perfect playing condition today, It was hard to kick with the Wind, however there are no excuses. We missed easy shots in front and from 30m out. We also kicked a few out of bounce because we kept getting way too close to the man on the mark, searching for distance....

- No Accountability for Port players on the rebound. How many times did we see free Port players running towards our 50 with no pressure and no opponent in sight?

- Exposing the middle of the Ground to Unmanned Port players, and giving them easy access to the corridor with very little pressure

- Turn overs and shocking disposal. Levi Casboult, Bell & Co, basic skill errors. Terrible

- Bombing Long so many times but who was our tall Target? Eddie Bets.... How many times did they kick it long to Bets and he had two players to beat every time.

** The best performance of the year- What went right? **

- The Captain answers our cries and plays the best game for years. Murphy took responsibility to do something. He ran hard, chased hard and demanded the ball. He took it upon himself to kick some goals than just give it off. Have not seen that for a long time.

- Yarran does what he was recruited to do. He took them on. He just ran and ran. We have not seen that since that famous victory against West Coast earlier in the year. The Amigos need to do that. It doesn't matter if they stuff up or get run down. Keep doing it.

- Played Man on Man and showed some accountability.

- Switched Hendo forward. I don't know why he started him back. There was no need to switch Waite and Henderson. Waite is more useful as a running defender than a wayward forward with bad kicking.

Let's just enjoy the Finals. I don't expect us to beat Richmond but let's just make an effort!!

I think you have to be able to do both. You can't be predictable these days. But you need to strangle teams which we cannot do consistently at all. The way they were able to run off half back was terrible.

I remember similar thoughts back in 2003...."we have to play finals style"

It was nice to see him abandon his style and take the tall off...

We could win next week, but bet your house on big chances still. We don't have the cattle for top 4.

They moved like treacle with that extra tall. Instructed to bomb to try to take advantage of the extra tall. As club29 points out a lot the run wins over height. Then he threw Yarran to wing/HB.

Be interesting to see the play on percentage from first to second half.
