Agreed. Popular perception of us is that our 'bottom 6' are not good enough. I don't know if I agree. For me what's been striking this year is our top 6 have really struggled.

Atrocious kicking
Diabolical umpiring (1st half)
Physical and dominant
Sunny as all flower

120 pointed ended up beng 43. For 5 minutes I briefly entertained the thought of dropping this game due to poor kicking but other than a bit of lax midfield work, we had complete control.

First win at Carrara/Metricon since 1992...another hoodoo lifted.

Recognition of the crowd: at open training I got a signature from every player in the squad. Happy to sign, pose for photos etc, much more so than last year. Reckon after the game they were well and truly flowered...I was and I'm a Gold Coast resident! Hot as hell and sunny as flower.

Good win, did what e needed to do and what most didn't think we could.

Army played himself in well, massive hit late in the game. Robbo on Gaz is highlight reel material. Hend great in forward, Watto learning, Kreuz another great game, Judd impotent, Murphy and extremely quiet 27 touches. Simmo is back.

Bring on Freo, Richmond will drop at least two, so will Pies, we play Rochmond and Port, finals is go if we want it...

Yes I wondered what was going on with that, Mitch quite deliberately pushed the cameraman out of the circle just before they started singing....

About a year now. Used to be ridiculous amounts of cameras in there and took away the team sense of joy imo.

At least they sang the song this week with a bit more feeling compared to the previous two occasions

This was a great win against a good up and coming side who last week beat collingwood. The biggest negative was the shocking conversion rate. if we had have got value for all of our domination, we would have been up by 60+ at half time and the game would have been over.
The only other poor thing about the game was giving up 4 50m penalties in the first half.
I was very pleased with the win - our third in a row. looking forward to next week.
to the people who are all doom and gloom after coming away from a 7 goal interstate win - go and barrack for richmond! you are bringing me down.

Well said these guys beat the pies and nearly the tigers as well in recent weeks

Very tough playing them interstate

Couldn't believe how many marks were dropped inside 50.
Still many players who show something in a week or in a half and then don't - this week it was Rowe after 2 encouraging performances.
Still, I keep seeing incremental improvements each game (with two glaring exceptions this year).
Needed the percentage boost too.

The team's marking across the field was very poor.

Oh god, I agree with Warby. Carrots' current form has nothing to do with a decision that should have been made at the start of the year. Can't remember which one of you it was who mentioned this over a Percys meal at the start of the year - but murmurs that he actually knocked back the role privately as he wasn't prepared to increase his media workload, which was already somewhat equivalent to what the captain would do anyway when Judd was captain?

Curnow's game was the difference between us winning and losing IMO. Times there when GC got a run on, but just couldn't get the ball in Ablett's hands in good positions. Thought Curnow's 22 were far more damaging than Ablett's 30 that were mostly uncontested handball chains in the back 50. Haven't seen the score assists, but reckon Ed was involved in 2-3 goals along the way too. Don't think any other player has done a better job on Ablett all year, both in terms of curbing his influence on the game, and also being damaging the other way.

Gibbs' game was clutch. Disposal out of the back 50 at crucial stages was all class. Made the right decisions and hit targets.

Good to see Scotland get amongst it too for the first time in a few weeks as well.

Allowing for Essendon*'s eventual fall, we're in the eight by two games now.

Anybody think that while he has more chance of not making it rather than making it, Watson asking for the ball from Jeffy and then slotting it through showed a small, incremental step in his development

Difficult one really. I think Watson is still there, not only on the basis of Hendo's great work up forward, but also because Rowe has been doing the job as backup ruckman well enough as well.

Don't think you can have Watson and Casboult in the same team. Rowe has the added flexibility to play back that Casboult doesn't.

Pretty happy with how its all coming together so far.

Didn't see the game as I am currently in holiday in Bali. However I did a little fist pump when I got back to the villa and saw the score. This was a real danger game for us and always a possibility that we would shoot ourselves in the foot. I can understand that some might feel disappointed in the manner of the win but I don't really feel that we are a team that has the right to expect any easy win in this competition let alone be disappointed with a 43 point margin in an interstate away game.

So many places to watch footy up there, sinking brews & chowing down on the food. Joy of being in Bali in winter is watching footy up there except I've witnessed losses against STK, Port, Essendon* (and the draw last year). Excess beers & losing don't go well together....

We really are clinging at straws aren't we? It's still his agility and one on one body work that concerns me the most.

I hope we do give Rowe a chance at CHB this season. With Waite coming back I'd like to see us try a forward line of Waite, Henderson & Casboult/Kruezer and a defence of Jamison & Rowe supported by McInnes & Walker.

If that could stand up it would solve a lot of issues. It is also flexible with Waite, Rowe & Henderson all able to swap roles if needed.

I swear one day you're going to rock up at a Middle East peace summit with a Powerpoint slideshow entitled "Unifying The Gaza Strip: Rowe To CHB".

Just can't see it happening, short of Jamison falling over tomorrow. They've rated him enough to give him another year based on his output as a forward/ruck, and clearly want to see if Watson is worth persevering with. Would take a bit to happen before it happens at senior level willingly.

Pretty sure we had Waite/Hendo/Casboult forward line for a spell during the Port Adelaide game. Seemed to work quite well but I think Hendo had to go back on Westoff.

Anyone remember DeLuca playing at CHB in a game against North at Etihad?

Was that rd 1 05? Thornton already out injured, Livo goes down with an injury in the opening minutes? Ugly viewing.

I thought it was later in the season to be honest, you could be right though. Can't remember which season it was, but it was very ugly viewing.

Arrived home last night from 3 days on the Gold Coast.
Went last year too so much happier with the result.
Bumped into lots of Carlton supporters up there.
A game we should have won by lots more, our kicking at goal has been a real problem at times this year.
Loved big Kruezers game, thought Simmo was good although i dont think he had an apponent.
Was pretty hot sitting in the sun and our boys ran out the game better.
Only negative was no free quarter pounder this year.
