Based on the other night I can only see us beating the Bulldogs and maybe the Suns (although they will cause us grief), that's it.

According to the ladder predictor this could leave us in 13th spot (14th if we lost to GC).

This is the reality we face, people.

But if the team decides to pull their heads out of their arse and win all the 50/50 games coming up (St Kida, Norf, Richmond, Port) then 9th is still on the cards. I seriously doubt this mob has that level of fortitude in them though.

We don't want ninth.
We want 14th.
Play the kids who will be around next year and let the ladder look after itself.
We need pick 5 not pick 10

+1

Making finals (or trying to make finals) is not in our best interests. Reality is we need a rebuild of some sorts and therefore need the best picks we can get our hands on. Play those who will be around next year and give the kids who are CAPABLE a shot to show us what they do (don't gift games to those not up to it as it may do more harm than good). I'd rather lose with Graham, Menzel and Buckley showing good signs for the future, than lose with the same old fringe players who will be delisted/shipped off.

I predict a sad, sorry end full of recrimination, pain and lost hope ... but what do I know, I picked the Blues to win last week and to give Essendon* at slapping earlier on in the season.

Doing the ladder predictor I'd say it's going to be very close, might come down to percentage for 8th spot. Unless the bombers get booted of course.
Lose this week though and we may be on a slippery slope - lot of 'last year' feel to this season

North - Loss
Gold Coast - Win
Freo - Loss
Bulldogs - Win
Richmond - Win
Bombers - Loss
Port - Win

IMO could interchange the GC/Freo games...we'll win one and lose one. Not win both or lose both.

Gives us 11 wins for the year which wouldn't be enough to play finals. Not fussed any more this season where we finish to be honest. If you're not playing finals then forget it. Looking forward to the post-season list clean-out.

Reckon this week is a must win, simply for momentum. Port game will be a must win for obvious reasons.

Win 3 of the other 5 and we should be right....Suns and Dogs, and upset one of Freo, Scum and Tigers.

Finish 12-10.

Very achievable.

..if we want to play finals, we'll need to be winning pretty much all games.. ..aside from what we think should happen to the bombres' before finals, if asada isnt finished we cant bank on that occurring,.. ..and there's too many teams jostling for 8th, including port in 8th and 1 game clear of us and wce, and 2+ clear of the rest.. ..if we win some, then too much relies upon the 'pack' losing more than us..

We can drop 2. Any more than that and we have to hope Essendon* get DQd

I have us losing two more games, Freo and either Essendon* or Richmond. If that happens we'll finish eigth and be equal on points with Richmond (7th) and Port (9th).

Great thing is Essendon* finish 5th if they aren't docked any points. If they are, we would play Richmond.

Here's hoping we make it for a great first week of finals.

If we win next week I give us a chance against Freo....on a mini roll, packed house at Etihad.

We match up very well against the Dockers. They rarely beat us and we should account for them relatively easily at home.

Think we should win the next 3
Playing better at Etihad
Think we will beat the Dockers provided we don't play into their hands

Erm, no. It's an opinion, in this case written after seeing one of the most gutless performances I've ever seen from a Carlton team. We all have them. You're always welcome to offer a counter-opinion rather than single-sentence snipes.

That said, I'm happy that since writing this the team has proven me wrong twice. Hope they keep doing it, but it'll still be a very difficult task. Re-doing the predictor, I now have us finishing 9th.
