Jamison would be ideal, except he isn't on the park half the time.

Murphy - I dunno, he just doesn't seem to have that natural leader characteristic - Maybe it's his haircut.

Judd seems to me to be the best captain to represent our team for public consumption.
Generally he is well respected as a player and as a person.
The players also respect him and we always hear how he sets the tone for training and best practise as far as match preparation is concerned.

Does all that make him the best captain? I dunno.

If Judd wants to step aside to concentrate on his game, I'd select Carrazzo to lead the Blues with Murphy and Simpson as his deputies.

I just don't see Murphy as a captain. I can't put my finger on it, but I do know Carrazzo is a better public speaker and constantly talks to his team mates on the field. He looks to be organising and encouraging, whereas Murphy seems more of an intravert....like Judd.

For me, there would be a sense of sadness and regret if Juddy steps down as captain.

I still hold the fairytale of him holding the premiership cup aloft on grandfinal day. That would be some moment and richly deserved for all he has given us and will continue to give us over the next 2-3 years.

By any measure he is one of the all time greats. The face and icon of the club. A towering figure in terms of presence and ability. Head and shoulders above every other player on our list in terms of leadership.

I'd hate to think there was any pressure on the great man to relinquish the role. if he has truly had enough and wants to step down for his own reasons then so be it.

But I'll be a just a ittle sadder if that happens.

Cannot believe that in any shape or form....he didn't want to be Captain at Eagles when it was forced on him...and he didn't really want to be Captain at Blues, but at the time he was the only choice.....

He's never had the chance to be chosen....circumstnaces have always led him to be the choice.

I think he just wants to be a footballer.

Carrots for me. Let Murph go about his business as he has been. I'd like a Captain who got a bit of C... about him. Someone who is not affraid to tell it how it is as well as lead by example. Carrots all the way.
Judd is a great player, Murph will be. Carrotts is an absolute warrior who takes no prisoners. It's a no brainer for me.

Isn't Marc enough?

Agree that Murph doesn't strike me as captain material, although, he did lift when Judd went out, and there was lots of positive talk about his role around the club during those weeks. Who knows how he might be viewed behind the scenes, kind of like Maxfield with the Swans etc.

I hear what many of you are saying re Murph.
However, I think he could be a bit like Michael Clarke.

He made the decision a couple of years ago to earn the respect of his team mates and since then he has lifted, is one of our best hard ball get players and doesn't shirk the tough contests.
Plus, I was surprised by how well he came back from injury this year, when clearly he wasn't quite ready but still went in hard and led the team well when Judd wasn't playing.

I think he will grow more in the role, like M Clarke has done and if he does, this will have a bigger impact on the team than Simmo or Carrazzo or Jamo who will do what they do anyway.

..gonna be declared after nab cup, murphy carrots and simpson each to be given an opportunity to lead the club during the preseason comp.. ..though each has already done so during their careers.. ..also of interest is that Jamp and Gibbs have voluntarily stepped down out of leadership group, both not wanting to be leaders but rather focus on footy.. ..so jamo or gibbs for captain aint gonna happen, mostly not ever i reckon after this..
