We beat a team who is possibily playing the second worst footy in the AFL at the moment
We won by 3 goals
Pleased to see some new faces and we have neen besiged by injuries but if we play like that against the Tigers Saturday night we will get beaten comfortably.

You can only play who is available and you can only play the opposition on the park. Take the win for what it was. A win. Next week is next week and we should have a completely different structure.
Warnock in. Casboult to FF or CHF.
Maybe Waite in to FF or CHF.
Maybe Robbo in.

That will enable Ratts to put players where they can play.

I would omit Bower for Warnock, Thornton for Waite and Dale or Russell for Robbo.

There may be other changes but I am happy to keep Levi and Bell in the side. If Levi marks like he can and kicks reasonably, we have a 30-50 goal forward straight away. Bell will help against teams like Hawtorn who like to run through the packs. Russell is a shadow of himself and I think he has to go. Dale didn't get many opportunities but took what was on offer.

Apparently White went OK in the twos and Mitchell. If we play like we did tonight with a decent spine and a key forward to kick to instead of Eddie all the time, we'll beat Richmond. We own them.

terrible first half.
manned up in the second
spirited second half display.
kids did OK.
doggies over possess the football something shocking.
bell was pretty good.
Levi took some contested marks.
Dale kicked one on the siren which was nice.

going beyond this game.
casboult tuohy O'Keeffe curnow must all be brought us from the rookie list or delisTed end of year.

Has Frazer Dale gotten bigger? I had thought he was a bit of a twig but he looks quite solid.

He looks considerably bigger to me when compared with the preseason games.

Agree it was horrible to watch at times, but I'm happy for the win last night with so many kids.

Really enjoyed seeing Mcinnes Watson Casboult Bell and Dale. Bell could be a josh Kennedy Sydney type.
Would like to see Kerr also given a run to see what he can do at this level before delisting him. Watson was awful at vfl level and now seems quite a competent and confident defender.
Couple of baffling decisions the Russell 50, T Bird deliberate point and then goal of the post fiasco. People in docklands appartments saw it hit the post. Watched the replay to work out what happened there and not sure Luke Darcy should call Dogs games, brian Taylor is adding to much sugar and not enough coffee very much a radio specialist.

Considering our outs the western bulldogs are totally pants. Quite scary list management at the kennel.

There should be a few apologies from people on this site who were super negative about the coach and the club this week. A fantastic courageous win by the club and we should have more belief about what goes on rather than some of rubbish that we read here thru the week, well done Blues!

Yes there are some pathetic attacks on Ratten but like those who attack Ratten, you should keep the game in context as well.
We just had less scoring shots than the 15th team and won because we kicked straighter.
Its as simple as that.

Yes, some of Rattens protaganists go off without taking the injuries into account but by the same token, those asking for "apologies" need to show the same insight. It was a fighting win against a very poor team.

And that's the point we have so mismanaged our list that we are going to make some very tough decisions come years end if we are to participate properly in this years National Draft.

Great win btw.

Count yourself very fortunate you don't have to watch that hideous gameplan and appalling skill execution every week. Apparently the bloke that got us to 3 prelims was the only change required

Dahlhaus is the only reason to go to the footy this season.

They really are shocking. Only seen bits and pieces of them this year but last night was unbelievable. There is some good young talent on that list but I wouldn't put them any higher than Gold Coast. In fact GC would beat them at home if they played now.

9 players less than 50 games
3 debutants
2 others with less than 10 games
Plus 3 blokes that have run their race

You need to pull your head in Keogh there is no way we should have beaten anyone last night

Its not the players we put on the park its the way we played. Last night was pathetic especially the first half. Look at the tackle and clanger stats! :yikes:

The positioning and use of some players still astounds me.

Playing a half decent side do we really think we would have been given the space and latitude we were last night? Some of our players look great when there is no pressure but against better sides they go missing and last night there was no defensive pressure at all.

In the end if doesn't matter.

On the positive side we are now getting games into kids that MC were reluctant to try.

The rest of the season will now be about getting games into them. There is talent in Casboult, Bell, Watson, OKeefe, McCarthy, Dale, McInness, Buckley etc. Now give them some experience and PLEASE play them in positions they are used to, we need to see if they have the ability and development to step up to the next level.

Even GWS probably should've beaten us!
That was essentially a VFL team. Great effort by us but an indictment on dogs. Didn't realise they were that bad

Not to mention we won with 3 indigenous players in the team - who were all firing!

Funny eh ?

Last nights game was the biggest shot in the arm to our player development program in 5 years - that it had to happen under the circumstances of injury, suspension and necessity rather than long term strategic planning is an indictment on our club.

Good win BTW.

I agree 100%. With the players we had out you've got to be pretty happy with that win. The first half was pretty poor, but the boys bounced back.
Granted the opposition were not much chop, but we've been in terrible form and had a lot of players out.
I really hope they keep a couple of the rookies in the side for next week. Would like to see Casboult move to CHF or FF with Warnock in the ruck.
Bell looked promising, a great size for someone that can run through the midfiled.

There's a problem next week if Kreuzer is fit to play.

Warnock, Kruezer and Cas won't all get a run.

We need a KPF more than any other need right now.

Who misses out?

For me, Kruezer will get owned by Maric. I'd play Knockers and Cas at FF and get him to spell 206. Give Kruezer another week off.

Great win
We were very slow to start, but as Ratts mentioned we had multiple players trying to adjust up from VFL pace.

Thornton & Casboult battled hard which was great, but full credit to the midfield for being able to win clearances despite the absolutely woeful rucking.

Well done to the debutants, that will be a great pyschological boost to energize them for the rest of the year.

Great progress from Watson & McInnes, and Andy Collins is fast becoming one of my favourites - just needs to sharpen up a couple of things.

Full credit to Jeff for turning his form around, but needs to continue that to repay the faith the MC showed in him.

Bower & Russell - don't know what to think. It's all been said before. Sadly I think their time is coming to an end.

Good positive night for the club, but we need to lift next week.
Tigers are definitely a cut above the woeful dogs.

If Warnock is fit he needs to play the rest of the year at No.1 ruck, show his worth and be supported by Casboult. Kruezer needs to go and get his knee and hip fixed and be ready for 2013.

happy for casboult, bell, dale, mcinnes & watson. 11 games between that lot before last nights game & should all benefit from the win.

have really liked collins over the last 3-4 weeks. finds the ball and is capable of hitting the scoreboard. only 34 games so plenty of improvement left in him.

bulldogs are horrible but considering the side that ran out last night was good for our development if nothing else
