After the last month it wasnt a bad display and something we can build on. A few basic errors going inside fifty, bad goal kicking and a couple of times their premiership class stood out over a couple of our more younger and inexperienced players.

Suprising we got as close as we did when you look both teams player against player.

Lets hope that display gets a bit of confidence back into the team and a string of wins is not too far away.

The effort was much better but our kicking, especially in the last quarter was woeful. Walker kicked like shit as one of our main offenders. Good to see Betts back in some kind of form but we need a reliable tall forward. The umpiring was abysmal but we lost the game through our kicking and inability to stop them from scoring.

Just came home and not too upset. The season is shot no matter what, so I just wanted the boys to show effort and they did. Inaccuracies cost us the game.

Kudos to Ratts for the way we sat up - finally a plan B. The 3 tall forwards, Kade in the backline etc. did baffle them in the first quarter but we did not put our dominance onto the scoreboard and later they adjusted. 2.9 in the last killed it. Concerned about Yarran, he must still have trouble with the toe or he would start. Lets play more kids and get ready for next year. Rest the big Kruz, h is clearly not fully fit.

What the hell has happened to Garlett this year ? Seems half the player he was last year..
His ability to miss 'unmissable' goals is really getting beyond a joke now...
Time to give him a spell I reckon...

Goal kicking was [REDACTED], seriously, 5 or 6 posters? Do we have the record for most in the AFL?

Umpiring was a joke. Free against Betts for holding in the first and the one that gifted Selwood a goal in the last were a complete @#$%&! joke. Demetriou Anderson Gieschen you fat @#$%&! trolls are ruining our game, go and get [REDACTED].

Josh Hunt and Steve Johnson should be suspended but no doubt will get off on some bullshit technicality.

I'm angry. This is the first loss of the year I can truly say that we should have won.

And Eddie was done for holding the ball in that incident wasnt he...
And umpires wonder why people are so hard on them...

thought the move of yarran as sub at the start of the game cost us a little as we were really quite dominant for most of that 1st qtr but lacked some class and composure in a few passages. someone like yarran could of made the difference and put as the 4-5 goals up we deserved to be. a mate and i thought perhaps we were desperate and played him injured but that all changed when we watched him do a mini training session from the livewire bar after the game. looked to be running freely and at normal yarran speed! upsetting really.

Thought the forward line structure looked great in the first quarter, a traditional set up that looked simple in its execution. Hendo goes back to CHB, and the whole thing went to shit.

Not sure if Garlett has hit Ballantyne/Thomas levels of form crisis yet, as both of them were at least getting shots on goal to show they're mentally destroyed. Time to rebuild from square one..

Few things I hadn't seen for a while appear in general play tonight - blokes sprinting 50m from an otherwise easy resting place to lay a shepherd - Armfield and Joseph especially. We used the corridor better also.

Bootsma's game worth turning up alone I reckon.

Gibbs destroyed Stevie J tonight also. That goal late in the third was class and maturity personified.

There was quite a bit to like. Brock,Bootsma,Rrrobbie

Quite a bit not to like also.

Effort was way better.

Does anyone know if Juddy has a groin problem, or some other injury concern?

I actually lost it then - yelled and jumped up and down. Probably worst call of the night.

Another good display from Watson too I thought. Showed some great composure and did some really smart work. Would love to just ring him up and say "Mate we really have some 'Richmond' supporters. Great game, ignore the rubbish comments. The majority of supporters for this club are intelligent and cant wait to see you develop and become a great in the navy blue."

Just back from the game, not too disappointed. Much better. We were beaten by a lack of skill and poise rather than lack of effort. Makes the woeful efforts ag. the Dons, Saints, Crows and Port hurt more. We need this effort every week not once a month. We have been hurt by injuries and have a lot of battlers but we did battle and Geelong were lucky. THey had more players with more poise and skill, but they ain't going to win a flag this year. Kudos to Brock, I have been a critic but he has held his head up and is really putting in. Can't believe the criticism of Watson previously. He has played a handful of games and didn't look out of place, but like to see him unleash a big kick occasionally. Given up hoping we might at some stage want to turn Gibbs into something more than a half back flanker. Three rucks just doesn't work. Big K looks all at sea, and as Hammo showed in the last qtr, as an agile forward he makes a good ruckman. We have to run Big K as the number one and try and get him back to form. Lovely goal by Tuohy, love to see him freed up to run and carry more, he is a 100 metre player when he has space.

Hendo is a really good player, pity we can't leave him back but he will have to be a forward until we get some players back. Duigan shows great leadership and courage but can look a bit one paced, not sure if he will hold his spot when Laidler gets back. Collins showed a bit, persevere with him, he needs to work on his disposal. If Yarran is fit play him. He is not going to gain fitness running around for a quarter. Eddie Betts very good, Jeff G struggling.

Not sure if we can win any of our next few, but at least if we try like we did tonight, all night we give ourselves a chance

that was sickening full stop
they had a chance for a galvanising backs to the wall win to keep the season alive
only to let it slip away through awful goalkicking, no excuse for that it's piss poor concentration
the thing that hurts most is if we started with lucas and russell/bower in place of joseph and watson we win that game.

watson geez i wanna give the kid time but he makes lance whitnall look like black caviar.. only faster
and we are -2 goals per week with joseph in the side every week

soul destroying and the rest of the comp is laughing at as.... and selectors GAGF you are out of your minds

Has proven to me he can make it the past two weeks. I admit I thought he was struggling, goes to show give a kid chance at AFL level can be worthwhile no matter the form in the VFL. Sometimes a taste of th big time is all it takes.

yes , Gibbs.
I can see us getting back on track with a few more players back in..but will it be too late for this season? Not expecting Top 4, or even a win, makes for a more enjoyable nite at the footy.

oh, and lots of champagne too. :-) yep. definitely improves things.

I agree BB but Watto has to use his lethal kick a lot more. He should be doing the kick ins, roost the ball to the centre circle....
