All this tells me is that the players run the club.
If the players don't like the coach the coach goes.
Well I don't think Ratts is a great coach but he is the coach for now.
What happens if they don’t like or respect the next coach after two or three years.
It’s never up to the players to run the coach.
Who do these little pretentious pounces think they are?
Drop Judd.
Drop Gibbs.
Drop Betts.
If you’re going to lose, lose your way and show the public what you expect from these little shits who think they are above what is expected from them when they pull on this jumper that has had so much history and respect in the past.
Who do you think you are to destroy that with your childish whinging, pathetic and over valued self worth?
Toughen up or get out.

It's not about whether the players like the coach or not. I'm sure most of them like him as he is a nice bloke. But does being a nice bloke make you want to play for him? No, of course it doesn't. Leadership, respect, an understanding and a sense of consequence are what drive a team to play for a coach.

I've said this previously in another thread that the way players respond to coaches is much like the way people respond to their superiors in the workplace. If you have someone who is not a natural born leader trying to implement a plan or strategy that the subordinates don't believe in it's never going to work. You may have times where things just click for one reason or another, or have patches of brilliance instigated by indiduals but you will never form a successful, cohesive unit.

That's exactly where we're at and if things don't change quickly then Ratten has to go - like it or not.

If you want an example of how quickly things can change, look no further than the Crows, Geelong last year, or even St. Kilda under Watters. A new coach with a sound plan empowers the players and breathes life into them. It doesn't mean their predecessors were bad coaches, or bad blokes, or even unliked by the playing group - it was just time for a change.

Yes it's about respect and leadership and things have to change.
Time for a change means that that don't have confidence or like what the coach has to say.
It's about we don't want to do this so we won't.
I'll show you who has the power in this club.
Spoilt little shits.
Ratten has to assert his dominance and lead.
Whether he is right or wrong he has control of the team and it's direction not the players.
That's up to the twits further up.

So no one really stood out for the Northern Blues.
Probably difficult for players to play a winning style of footy at NB with so many injuries...and lack of depth in the VFL reserves.

Lucas, Kerr, Buckley...not many healthy players left to choose from and none of them stood out.
Bell could be called on the replace Murphy for his LTI.
Russell didn't play.

Now Scotland is out for 3 weeks...FMD.

We're relying on the return of injured players to fix us up for this game:
Kreuzer, Henderson and Duigan???? Maybe Thornton??? and no midfielders.

I've always been a Bower fan, and a Setanta fan, even had hope for Collins....something to do with Rose coloured glasses.
Sorry to say but I've given up on Bower. He's in because we're desperate for talls. Same with Collins imo.
I hold no hope that Bower will get us over the line in a GF. In fact, he may get us in a spot of bother imo.
So I'd swap TBird for Bower, and that's something I would never have done in the past.
If we were a form team, I'd even keep Bootsma in for Bower....maybe even Watson; just played his best game ever for us imo.

I'd also like to drop Curnow, Joseph, but we have no one to replace them.
Brock and Elllard have been OK, and have been our best in the last 2 weeks...and I'd like to change them for better players too.
Our bottom 6 are a real problem.

So the kids Bootsma and Watson have to give way for the big boys, depsite them doing OK against Port.
But we have to select for a win this Friday...and that's an understatement.

No matter who is selected we will see what the players have in terms of pride, guts and determination, and love of the jumper against last years premiers.

Thought Joseph's game on Boak was pretty serviceable, one of the few who did their job.

Wouldn't mind seeing how he goes on Selwood..

With that hopeless effort it's hard to drop players who gave everything so i think a couple will be safe this week who probably shouldn't be.

OUT- Bower, Curnow, Scotland
IN - Henderson, Lucas, Kruezer

Expect a few players to get dropped in a couple of weeks though.

Would like to see a little more overcommitment at the contest, at least it shows some aggression.
At the moment we watch teams get the ball and try to intercept. Win the f****ing ball first or lay a tackle!
We play the game like basketball.

Me too Sydney - me too.
Only thing was I couldn't enjoy myself and it made me angrier and angrier as the game went on.

The least we can try and do is be aggressive from the first bounce and make them earn every kick...........

The reality is we will be treated like Rag Dolls and smashed. Ratten must go for his inability to inspire a red hot go from his charges. I know they are also to blame but you can't sack the team.

Didn't you state in another post that there are about 5 players in the side that should never play for the club again?

Isn't that therefore part of the problem?

And that he is loyal... he said that....

and he thinks 5 guys should never play footy for the club again...

If we lose by a big enough margin we will be 11th after the round. Three weeks ago we were shooting for top position. A month is a long time in footy.

Carlton left clueless on form slump - HS article.

http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/carlton-left-clueless-on-form-slump/story-e6frg1xu-1226381958879

Down in form, can't work out why...
(Would have thought all those stats would have told us)... :garthp:

As much as I want to believe in rebound theory and we will somehow be alright on the night and towel the Cats, just can't see it happening. Am kind of torn in what I want. Want to win, but don't want the rather large cracks in our club papered over by a 'redeeming win'.

Totally agree, was astounded by the comment about not knowing why (despite the admirable honesty). Get out of my footy club...
