Watching the game again I was impressed with Kreuzer's game. I think I had read too many negative posts here last week and saw every mistake on Sunday. But he presented well when in the forward line and got to quite a few contests again. He is important for us.

Brock has had more positive press this week than a collingwood premiership, but he deserves it. He gave a couple of really nice handballs out to Kreuze and robbo for goals; that's a really good sign. Hope he can do it again, and again now

The other positive going under the radar is that despite the outs in the backline this year we are 25 pts off being the lowest 'points against' side, virtually equal second. That is a great effort needing acknowledgement.

The big question this next 2-3 weeks is whether our midfield can back up week after week with the same intensity. I think they will this week. Blues by 25pts, hammer to kick 4  .

Yarran- Needs another week

Ok who is then Kerr or Russell

Every other player is injured

Well yes and no. Is there still a Thornton v Bower contemplation for the MC?

Is Watson ever going to get a taste again any time soon? Would seem more plausible against a Port rather than a Geel, WC, Hawthorn or Coll...

Are we clear on Duigan's injury status?

Maybe a long shot, but Buckley as the sub? Bootsma was thrown to the wolves in a sense with an early debut, is it entirely unrealistic that the club might follow the same path re Dylan?

Thornton has a busted Gluet
Duigan is still a week away
Buckley has played one game in the 2's and is miles off

Ratts says Yarran and Collins are in - I have my doubts

and Watson - next year

If we are to make the top 4 ... we will need to win a minimum 16 games ... we have already lost 3 out of 22. So I believe we can only afford to lose 3 more games.

We still have to play Geelong, WC, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Sydney, Essendon* and St Kilda (and North who always give us trouble).

I can see us losing a lot more than 3 games ... but if we are to have any chance at all of making the top 4 ... This game needs to be certainty ... a smashing ... an obliteration.

I want to see something that tells me we can take on those side mentioned above.

yeah. because it starts being about other teams falling over as well.
It's hard to see W.coast, Adelaide, with their dream run, Collingwood, who got over their slump, and unfortunately Bombers, coughing up games like we have.
Still, it could happen, in conjunction with us consistently winning. Always hopeful.

We have the opportunity to get one game closer or pass some the teams above us.
We still play Collingwood, Essendon*, WCE and whilst we don't get a chance at Crows again, Adelaide still have the abovementioned to face too.

Plus we can get further clear of the Hawks, Tigers, Cats, Saints and Sydney who want our spot!

It is a very close season, like nothing we've ever seen.
Plenty of time for us to get into the top 4.

Upsets will happen again for Pies, and Crows, us, and Bumbers should run out of steam and hopefully luck.
There will be upsets. Count on them. Even for the Wegirls.

We have had a lot of bad luck starting in the preseason.
Despite the high alt training at Qatar, injury does hinder plans..
That's not the way to start a season. But that's nother thread.

Our players must fight back to peak condition at the right time of the year.
We have the fitness base.
I believe we can regain our status as the best hard ball and clearance team in the comp.
When we do that again, and we show patience in the arm wrestle and game opens a little...,
... then we can use the outside after burners to get the quick goals..

We can do it. We have to be disciplined and patient. Step up on field leaders.

I agree Bondi there is plenty of scope to get back into a top 4 position, this is probably on of the most even seasons I have seen in 40 years, the door is still wide open and our destiny is in our own hands, now comes the time for us to want it more than the others and do whatever we have to do to win, if that means playing ugly footy so be it.

That'd be my guess. Can't see Collins being okay this week. I wonder if Buckley is injured?

Blueinblood thinks Russell and Dale will be the emergencies who will travel to SA with the team. Think Kerr travelled to Perth for last year's win against Freo. Really don't see what the fuss is all about with Dale. Certainly shouldn't be picked ahead of Lucas who is a better footballer.

where did you get the pressure acts stat from?

I thought he was running around like a headless chook most of the game, trying to get as close to a contest as possible without actually impacting it.

he didn't want to go near it, compared to his best. mind you he's the sort of player who can turn a game with just a few touches.

hope he gets a rocket during the week and they stick with him. he'll turn it around.

If lucas is going to be the sub again i'd rather another kid get a taste.

Lucas should start, bring in dale or bucks for collo if he's injuired. Army the sub because i reckon he can come on and have some impact latter on.

The stat came from the Rat that looks like a moose that follows Ants

Best poster going around but Chewy is giving him a good run at the moment

Ratts said Yarran will play with the 3 ruck playing KP
Hendo Waite and Duigan scratched.
Dale upgraded from rookie on Wednesday, today.
Rumour that Russell is emergency.
Teams picked tomorrow.

The cupboard is bare. We have 6 of our best 22 out injured.
That's why we elevate a rookie kid with a bigger body than Buckley.
Collins should not be considered if there's bruising to his knee.
Yarran would automatically take his spot.

Who else do you drop given Lucas was a last minute replacement for Yarran?

The only other players left to select from are Russell and Watson with AFL experience.
Then there's Dale, Buckley, McCarthy, McInnes and Kerr.

They'd be replacing one of Curnow, Joseph, Bootsma, Ellard, Lucas, and maybe Garlett and Tuohy.
I can't see that being a benefit. But then why upgrade Dale? Lucas makes way?

The Power request it from the AFL. It's just about the only game of the year bar the hoe-down where they get more then 20k...

Of that lot, I think I'd replace Curnow.
