I wonder if Dermie had a look at Mark Robinson's all Australian team in todays paper. He had 6 Carlton players to Hawthorn's 2. Of the 6 Carlton players it included 3 midfielders-Judd, Murphy and Scotland. I am glad he recognized Scotland as has flown under the radar a bit and is having a sensational year.

So now we DO care about what mark Robinson thinks?

Well the stats will show our midfield, even without Judd, had more of it
But as has been the case for much of the year, we don't have a gun KPP fwd for the club to capitalise on the midfield dominance

Warwick Capper won a Coleman and he's the biggest flower to walk the earth.
Being good at footy doesn't equal intelligence. Our midfield wasn't beaten by theirs. Poor conversion and a lack of a tall forward bought us undone.

Carlton midfield vs Hawthorn midfield head to head - they smashed us where it mattered when it mattered.

For 2 1/2 quarters.
We smashed them for 1 1/2 quarters.

Not that much in it really.

Well, what is the point? They played better and have out performed us but you can't discount the psychological as well as practical advantage of knowing that your forays forward have a good chance of paying-off. However, the 'midfield' in the modern game is no longer just those five players who get named there each week.
