Actually I would rather Watson stay in even if Bower is fit. Reason being I won't get so angry at Watson when he flowers up because he's only a second game player.

there i said it.

Why make unnecessary changes to a team that wins by 120 points?

Not just for the sake of team balance, but team morale too. Seems way too counterproductive. If there's players in the gun (which there are), let them prove themselves against the best side in the competition, and then drop them the week after.

Jamo for White seems to be the only change worth making. Bower needs a run in the twos, and I reckon it'll be 50/50 if Hendo plays (for Thornton I guess).

If we get within 5 goals, I'll consider that a decent showing, anything worse, then obviously Duigan, Armfield, Hampson, Thornton, etc are all in the gun and rightfully so.

So you've decided who will have played badly for us before the game has even been played? What if they're our best 4 players?

That's been going on here for years.

As generally speaking, it's the same scapegoats who get dropped by the match committee anyway, save for when a "big statement" needs to be made and the yearly big name gets dropped for 1-2 weeks.

It wouldn't surprise me at all, that after 2 good games, Robbo would probably be facing the axe too if its a big loss.

Because they're not unnecessary? Duigan cost us goals in the GC match, White was just OK and you know Jamison should be brought straight back, and Watto was solid but Bower provides more to the side at present when you consider Russell & Yarran's kicking come out of defence.

I'm not a massive Duigan fan either, but no point in writing him off after two games.

I expect him to go the way of Chris Johnson, will get X amount of games to prove himself, and will then be shunted off to the VFL when we need PR-related omissions, and won't get back in again until either a) injuries present themselves or b) he finds himself on the fortunate side of the next round of aforementioned PR-related omissions.

The question is how many games before the match committee say "Yeah, nah, enoughs enough". I think Duigan has a role to play, but its not the loose man in defence/Nick Maxwell role, as he's not quick enough nor tall enough. His role that I think he can play is pretty much taken by Russell, and to a lesser extent, Laidler.

In hindsight, it's almost a baffling decision to recruit Duigan, and take Steven Browne (5 years younger too) off of it.

All things considered, three games should be enough for us to say "Yep, we've seen enough", whereas I don't think two games against kids tells us enough.

Lucas needs another week anyway.

I think Duigan has a role to play over the years, but I think he's a bit of a liability at the moment.

So you're complaining about the match committee having the "same scapegoats" (who funnily enough are probably the players ranked roughly between 18-26 on our list, fancy them being in and out of the team) but you've just named your own 4 scapegoats 3 days before the match is even played. Pot kettle etc. As for calling Chris Johnson being dropped a PR related omission, I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion, now matter how dumb it is.

Duigan's got too many assets to just dismiss him after only 2 games. Give him a chance to find his feet.

+1
I reckon he's been pretty good. Strong body and covers plenty of territory. Only played two games of real AFL (don't count NAB, as GC found out !) and its a huge step-up from SANFL in all areas. >>> than Chris Johnson

I think it's the old 'mature bodies' in area's of need scenario, I like Duigan as a player but when you recruit them this late in proceedings they usually have a weakness or two, whether they are mature-age or U/18 kids. We are trying to get to where we need to be but we seem to be in two minds as to when we'll be ready and what we'll need. On that note, perhaps we were a bit hasty in elevating Casboult ahead of Tuohy.

FWIW the game now starts at 7.50pm, not 7.40pm.

I believe the flag unfurling and all that rubbish starts at 7.10pm. So if you're got a reserved seat don't rush to get in

I haven't been WOWed by Duigan, and he looks a little but like he's treading water at moment, but he hasn't been too bad. I'd prefer him on balance to Brown or Johnson.

I don't think it would be such a bad thing if he got dropped this week, just as it wouldn't be a disaster if Watson got dropped. We have competition for spots now, and Collingwood are a different team to GC or the Tiges. We should adjust accordingly rather than bemoan players not getting a fair go. Moderation, yes. Automatically no changes? No way.

Having said that I agree that Bower is not a definite inclusion. His form has been patchy for quite a while.

Im not sure i want to go to this game, i really dont think i could handle the flag unveiling rubbish before the game and of course those tosser Pies supporters.
And if they start the ' coooollllliiinnnggwoooddddd ' chant ill be so angry seriously, theres nothing i hate more than these blokes.

I know closer to the game ill get pumped up and go ( as im a premium gold member )

This is our chance as a club to make a statement and show that we are in the mix, ill be really disappointed if we dont have a crack and get slaughtered.

I think anything more than a 5 goal loss is bad.... i do think we are deeper than previous years and i think our midfield will hurt them.

Bryce Gibbs and Marc Murphy,... time to stand up and help the Juddster boys... we need you!
I could have got a kick last week, so i really hope that the boys come prepared for a massive fight!

Not saying he is going to be as good as Andy McKay, but i think Macca's first couple of games were very underwhelming.

Give him a bit more time

Would much prefer watsons raking left foot in the team than bower running around like a headless chook and throwing loopy handballs to teammates under pressure

It's not like bower is an awesome body on body defender
