We will have to be miles better than we have been over the last month. Whoever is on Lake, run around, lead, move. If we persist with the plan of having a big guy stand still and have the ball kicked on his head, then Lake will take another 18 marks.

The MC need to get the players up for this game, that is their job. If we are not ferocious from the word go we will be creamed. And enough of the static footy, lets try to get it forward before the dogs flood back.

I am not confident at all. We have some very ordinary players running around on the navy blues at the minute

For all the reasons you've posted..we may well be a chance this week.
We haven't been switched on for the last few games...but I get the feeling...yes...that spooky Blueman type feeling that we WILL be switched on this week.
That just leaves whether you think our team is as good as the Dogs when we are mentally up for it.
Should be a fantastic game....
We could win this..
I can't see us rolling over in any case.

My gut feeling is undecided.

I'm interested to see how we go if it turns out to be a nail biter. We haven't really been involved in any of those this year. Closest games I can think of were Freo (only on the scoreboard) and, hmm, Port, which was a close game for three quarters. We seem to either smash or be smashed.

T-Bird is the new 'JR' in supporters eyes.

Personally I like him. It is a rare defender that you can swing forward and have kick goals.

But he does need to be less demonstrative.

Except JR was a young player with all the tools for the modern game, and was still developing and on the way up and just required some confidence and patience from the fans. T-bird has been in the system a long time, WYSIWYG and I suspect he is on the opposite side of curve.

I seriously give up with the MRP, its now time for precedent to come into the process. Its the only way there will ever be any form of consistency.

Lake's cheap shot on Franklin in the last quarter is worth at least 2 weeks  - but happy to beat them full strength so there are no excuses.

Just watched the Lions game again. Really enjoyed Scotland's game and how much Houlihan has come on this year up forward. He is marking well and slotting goals. Hammer bringing the ball down for our mosquito fleet to crumb is good, and will only get better with more games into the big fella. And with Hendo starting to mark it and find his feet, we definitely have the cattle to win. A much tougher propostion against the bulldogs, and we are going to have to start making our tackles stick. Stoked to have 1AW back but tackling is not his forte atm. Loving Army's run and committment at the ball. He is all over the ground. He must have really worked on his fitness as he covers so much ground these days.

Bower is a cert to get back in if fit. Hopefully he can get a decent run before the finals to get himself up to speed.
Ellard is my other in. Great form and effort. Want to see him given a go before Hadley or McLean don the blue once more.
Would like to fit Lucas in too, but prob need to give Grigg another game.

B: JR Jamo Tex
HB: Armfield Bower Scotland
C: Simmo Ellard Carrazzo
HF: Gibbs Hendo Houlihan
F: Betts Hammer Yarran
Foll: Sauce Judd Murphy

Int: Grigg, Robbo, Thornton, Gartlett

IN: Ellard, Bower
OUT: AJ, Carlos

I reckon carlos wasnt that bad. He was in our top 6 in the first quarter when we were going shit.
Didnt do much after that but I reckon he is capable of bagging 3 or 4 this week.

In Lucas Bower
OUt Thornton Grigg

Pretty much every time he's gone forward he's kicked goals. Is that enough?

I would play Setanta and tell him to take Lake way out near the boundary line and leave the forward line open. Don't worry if he does not get a kick ... just keep Lake (assuming thats the match up) out of it.

Setanta gets the #1 backman each week.. So yeah him vs. Lake is likely.. And yes i'd be happy to see him just making sure Lake isn't taking marks and lets face it not many backman are taking marks against him..

setanta and hammer should sometimes try to tap directly to a running forward rather than try to mark. we should have some set plays around that.

has a few benefits:
1) Variety
2) Take advantage of our height and speed in the forward line
3) Force defenders to choose b/w spoiling and tagging as the ball comes in

Wouldnt be surprised if Fisher comes in this week at the expense of Setanta.
While Wait is still out if might be the right week to bring him in.
Grigg should be given another week to get the pace of AFL again
For mine
In
Fisher, Bower (if fit)
Out
Setanta, Thornton
