I heard on the radio today that it's Haselby's 200th on the weekend.

Not ideal for us as I believe teams really fire up for major milestone games. Especially for players from any club whose team mates rate them highly.

That said I think we should still win. If we aren't majorly switched on for this game then our club is not serious....

I'm not sure that we will bounce back against Fremantle. We are very fragile and Harvey will be all over us.

He's the loser that ended ratts career with a dodgy tackle at subi then had the nerve to say he was a 'bit sad' about it cos ratts was one of his idols growing up! Well Paul now ratts is the coach he's gonna make sure we smash your sad 200 games of mediocrity celebration right out of town this weekend!

ok...it's almost midway.
if you look at all the games ahead...
we could lose every one of them
or
we could win every one of them.
really..it's true isn't it..we are at a stage where we CAN win if we are switched on as a team..
hopefully we will win more than we lose.
I just wanted to put in this little ditty as a reminder to switch on the light for faith in the club to win most of our remaining games.
Not to put too fine a point on it..
let's say they are the only bee in our bonnet.

This is a SEASON DEFINING clash... The boys owe it to everybody to put in a massive game after the tripe they served up under the Friday night lights last week... Lose this and we fall back in the pack fighting for a finals berth.. Win and we still stay in touch with the Top 4...
P.S. I hope someone accidently KOs Ballyntine...

He won't be there.
He's too busy trying to track down Goddard.

ps.
I really liked what Wallsy said on WWAAT.
It makes sense that we didn't hold our structure properly against North...and left the forward line empty.
I hope we'll get that right on Saturday nite.

I think Top 4 is out of the question, personally. Unless Freo drop a shitload of games in the next 10 rounds. Just want to win so we're a good chance to make the finals. Lose and I wouldn't be surprised if we missed out completely /pessimist.

Carrazzo - lack urgency all night and it cost us repeatedly both defensive and offensively. Needs a kick up the backside considering that he is a senior player.

???

are u kiddn me

he has been dominatn his opponents

I agree this game will be won in the first quarter. Stats show first quarters are our best and last quarters are our worst, with the exact opposite for Freo.

We need to capitalise on this because if we don't, I doubt we'll be able to come back.

Umm... Who goes to Pavlic? Bower if he play forward.... Gibbs if he doesn't?

Assuming carrots goes to Hill, if we drop AJ (over 1 bad performance) .... Who goes to ballantyne? Armfield? .... Very defensive for a running half back flanker?

AJ stays.... Barlow?

Hadley or Brock (take your pick) are both perfect for haselby.

Mcfee went to Lenny Hayes on the weekend... Could he go to murph? Seems odd but it worked for them?

Out : setanta, Browne, mitch

In : bower, Henderson, yarn

Interesting to read most people's selections etc.

Why do people here purely worry about how we will match up on the opposition? How about worrying about the balance of our own side and how we can play the best football we can possibly play? Try and play the game on our terms.

People on here are worried about mental toughness, strength or similar yet they are also worried about how we match up to the opposition, what we will do to counter them etc. Not the way to go if you want to improve performance.

If we are mentally weak (which I don't agree with) or we want to get more consistent in our efforts then the best way is to concentrate on our own efforts. Do that and the rest will take care of itself.

Like to see Gibbs on Barlow.......Barlow will get his share of the footy because he is a ball magnet but Gibbs could reduce his impact and still get plenty of the footy himself and give Freo something to worry about with his neat disposal and ball getting abilities.

I hope Gibbs is not played on Pav as it may get real ugly and in any case why would we play Gibbs in any other position other than in the middle?

Good points raised

I agree.

Naturally there will be opponents for each player and a couple of tags.
So picking the couple of tags in the midfield and HB line is all in good fun, and likely to happen.
So I guess picking there couple of their prime movers will be the challenge.

I think if Pavlich went into the middle it would be worth considering who to put of them.

I would think Bower is the best match up for Pav and I wouldnt be surprised to see Jamo on Ballyntine. Is Mayne back yet? Who are there other tall/key forwards?

Yep...that's it in an nutshell....whenever Ratts goes in with a shutdown everybody bar the kitchen sink approach we lose the plot....lets just go out and play some instinctive footy and see what happens and play guys like Gibbs in their natural positions...

If Pav is going to play half forward pushing into the middle i would have Gibbs on him. He plays that role consistently well and would sit well with the sort of balance we have had in our big wins this year. Pav will no doubt push forward so Gibbs will have to be at his best defensively and also try and hurt Pav the other way to get him worrying about Gibbs. Gibbs can refer to roles played on Goodes, Deledio and that geelong gun Chapman.

If Pav starts deep and stays deep then Bower.

Both option fit with our games style and team balance. If Gibbs has a good game i can see us winning this well.
