I hear Bower had to have his leg amputated at the knee so he's out for the year while they try and find a cybernetic implant so he can resume next season, although the AFL will have to sign off on the surgery to ensure he doesn't gain a competitive advantage from a titanium alloy leg.

Good source.

What's the usual recovery time for that procedure Dr Jimmae?

Minimal, but the calibration period for the mechanics of the leg as well as the containment field for the uranium power source take quite a bit longer. He should be ok to get in a full pre-season.

Being reported on BigFooty by a quality poster who's been very reliable in the past that Bower will play and Armfield may still come in for Anderson.

Is that the same quality poster who swears very reliably that Bower is injured?

Whilst obviously I want 'the Power' to play tonight, I'm more fussed about whether his alleged injury is really a 4-6 weeker. If someone offered me for him to just miss this week only I'd probably take it.

If it is really 4-6 then it's pretty weird that he's been named.

I just heard from All Saints Hospital that the entire Carlton squad have been admitted with a mystery virus and are out for the match tonight. Rumour has it the team caught the bug from Bower's mechanical leg.

Melbourne Storm are being flown in to cover for the Blues.

Bugger. Pleased Army is in, but losing Bower - that's a big loss. Tall, mobile and great for running it out of our defense. So I take it Waite has to play back tonight then..

C'mon boys.. Would love to be 2 from 2 after tonight.

Funny that.
