The Blues need a replacement for Richard Hadley and will sweat on the fitness of emerging support ruckman Shaun Hampson, who has missed the past fortnight with a back injury.
Hampson played 13 consecutive games before he chipped a bone in his back when crunched against Geelong in round 19, and he faces a fitness test this week.
Should he prove he is ready to resume, Hampson will more than likely replace Cameron Cloke as Matthew Kreuzer's partner against the Crows trio of Ivan Maric, Kurt Tippett and James Sellar.
Hampson is Carlton's preferred second-choice ruckman, ahead at this stage of the season of Robbie Warnock and Sam Jacobs, who are both on the comeback trail in the VFL.
Now in his third season, Hampson, 21, has blossomed after 12 games. He did not play this year until round seven, but has had 20 or more hit-outs in seven matches.
