gotta think about who we are playing. i think this could be a game where we can really kill them by running the ball out of the back half through armmy, scotland and russel.
Jammo on O'Loughlan and Russel on Okeefe or thornton when hes deeper forward. Gibbs on Goodes. Rest of our backman can be quick blokes who can run off. Austin wont be needed and setanta shouldnt be needed down back at all.

Does it have to be Garlett? What about Bentley?

I actually watched the Freo game again and can I say that I thought Aussie was pretty good in that game when we needed players to lift in the second half.

He backed himself a few times and didn't look like a deer in the headlights at all. There was confidence in how he attacked the ball.

I would persist with him and try to keep our backline consistent [play the same players there] if we can.

Austin in the second half against Freo did a Bower and took on the lines with success.

He has some impressive pace for a big fella.

The Freo game was where he won me.

Actually if Hammer is out and Bower gets up:

Out: Bentley, Armfield, Anderson, Fisher, Hammer
In: Scotland, Browne, Carlos, Austin, Bower

No need for Cloke we can use Carlos in the ruck as a chop out. Rather Carlos running around the ground than Cloke, both would be smashed by Jolly in the ruck anyway. With these changes, we can play Aussie/Harts forward with Carlos/Kreuzer rotating.

I agree...any option that does not include Cloke is a viable option.

Is Roosy tanking surely not after all those cracks at Carlton

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,865 ... 51,00.html

With Sydney two wins outside the top eight and almost certain to miss the finals for the first time since 2002, coach Paul Roos will pump more game time into the younger players over the remaining rounds.

Sydney aren't necessarily tanking, but I'm pretty sure you can bet Roos won't give 2 craps about winning remaining matches this year. Their membership is down, Barry's gone, Mick's going at the end of the year, Kirk can't be far off.

Wouldn't surprise me if they let us dictate the match Saturday.

sorry, couldn't resist posting those team changes...

We are better now than we were then.

In: Setanta
Out: Fisher

Expect there'll be more changes.

Feel a bit sad for Fish. He tries hard, does some good things and I hope he makes it to 100 games, but... it has all been said.

Would expect Austin back in and maybe one of Scotland or Stevens. Anderson did not have a great game but I don't like seeing players dropped after just one game so won't call him as an 'out'. MC might though. Not sure re: Bentley. That was a pretty good chop off mark and very good goal that he kicked on Saturday. Still borderline and may not survive on the list, but has shown improvement for mine. I'd imagine team balance will determine the changes. Quite a bit of healthy competition for places starting to happen.

Garlett may not get the stats for another year or so yet but he adds defensive pressure and x-factor to the attack. That gather, run, weave, arch the back, bounce, weave some more and pass to Fev's advantage for his then pure @rse soccer goal was terrific football. I say don't drop him unless and until one of the other x-factor gifted young ones demands his spot. I say stuff the stats. That sort of play inspires a team and is worth a dozen dinky sideways possessions that mostly end up in a soft turnover somewhere.

Possibly relevant useless facts:
Fisher 5 games 4 wins (loss Essendon* R13) 5 goals 2
Garlett 8 games 6 wins (losses St.Kilda, Essendon* R3) 7 goals 8
These two are top 2 for games/win ratios this season other than Hartlett and Anderson who have both got a 100% ratio after one game.
Interestingly enough Chris Johnson is next after Fisher and Garlett at 71% with 5 wins from his 7 games. He is followed by Greg Bentley at 2 wins from 3 games. After that they dont look quite so impressive LOL

Roos will be out to win this one at all costs...have no doubt...this is a big test for us....there will be no Freo or Richmond here.

Yep. My apologies to those guys. Must admit I didn't agree with Prendergast's axing at the time. Liked his approach to the game. He had guts and application and we will need that in the scrap with Sydney this week. Must be a chance to win this and I hope the MC choose wisely...

Why do you say they'll be out to win at all costs?

All indications point to a general apathy at the moment, followed by a bit of a surge towards the end of the season. Make the end look OK, but really play for the draft.

Who cares who the ins or outs are? Whoever the ins are will be played in the wrong position and have no application to a non-existant gameplan. Couple that with the fact that we have the worst coach ever to have coached a footy team against the Zen Master - I think we should probably just rest all our players this week and hope for the best after that.
