Imagine if we'd gone with Synbad's idea of $500,000pa for Koschitzke about five years ago.

I'm very excited about this game. StKilda are our boogey team, no doubt about it. They have our number. They have pants us for the last 5 years and their supporters are LOVING EVERY MINUTE of it!

This game is a perfect game to evaluate where we are.

Ratts' gameplan and coaching skills up against Lyon (whom i rate).
Kreuzer's form up against Kosi in the ruck (i'm hoping they play him in the ruck)

Bower, who i think has been our most consistant player recently, up against Riewoldt (Please god, let this match up happen).

Gibbs and Murphy to show Hayes and Dal Santo that they're ready to been seen AND noticed.

Aaron Joseph to do a number on Hayes.

Look, if we loose, i'm not gonna see it as the end of the world and start calling for heads! St Kilda is far ahead of where we are. They're the best team in the comp next to Geelong and they have not won 11 in a row purely because of luck.

BUT - I think we can beat them. I really do.

Very excited and, slightly a little bit confident!

AJ on Milne
Robbo on Hayes - At least for part of it: maybe the right mix of pace and crazy.

See we do have the cattle to nullify this lot in the guts.

One on one footy and they will lose the plot...then we just hope Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Stevens and Simmo tear them up.

MIDFIELD

Hayes – Browne

Del Santo – Joseph

FORWARD

Goddard – Houlihan

Gram – Carrazzo

DEFENSE

Kozi – Setanta with Bannister filling the hole

Riewoldt – Thornton early, and if that fails Bower (which means one of these plays an attacking role)

Milne – Armfield

Schneider – Jamison

Wonder if the Blues will try to play ultra defensive, to at the very least makre sure they don’t get smashed and therefore don’t see their crucial % erode too much.

Not saying you don’t go for a win, but perhaps you employ a game plan that you think can get you across the line, but which also ensures you don’t get hammered in case you lose.

With a logjam of teams on 6 wins, the race for 4th spot is enormous and as The Age noted today our % of 117 is absolute gold.

If it was a tough penalty he would have challenged it. Its a cowardly act 30m off the ball that injured another player. 4 weeks is right.

In 1995, we lost only 2 games to Sydney and St.Kilda in successive weeks, after being undefeated at that stage. So far in 2009 St.Kilda are undefeated, let's hope we can repay the favour to St.Kilda this time and bring their unbeaten run to an end.

Going by that logic, even if it worked, St Kilda would win the flag! Are you sure that's what you want?

I reckon he didn't challenge because he didn't want to risk getting 6 weeks.

Yeah it was cowardly, but only worth 2 weeks IMO.

Agree with Budzy - very harsh penalty - 3 weeks with 2 for an early plea would have been fair.

I think we went for Ackland in stead

We went for the heart-and-soul type honest worker  over the wayward talent

Saints to be congratulated for getting good performances out of apparently over the hill rucks and getting them playing good footy.

If we can counter a defensive style such as was played with the Swans, then we may have a chance. They are rated as the no. one team defensively.
Does anyone have some ideas about escaping from full on pressure?
What can we change now that we didn't do against the Swans?
I can't wait for the game.
Wonder if Cameron Cloke will be included.

We need to take the game on, we need to run and we need to pay down the corridor. Defensive mindset and chipping it around will be playing into their hands.

Carrazo on Goddard to nullify their run from defence. Carazzo to run through the middle as well.
Bower on NR...Thornton cannot do the job...don't even think about it.
Carlos on Kosi when he plays forward with clear intstructions to be a pest.
Joseph on Milne. Milne always kicks bags against us. Always!!! AJ to ensure that Milne has nightmares about this one for a long time.
Gibbs to run with Hayes.
Kruezer/Hampson to be rested up forward and playing from the square putting extra pressure on their backs.
Our HF's to play up the ground towards the wings clearing our FWD 50 for Fev.
Come out fo the blocks quick and play direct with quick ball movement through the middle.

I love the idea of that match up..and it might be the very thing to give us a chance
My gut tells me that Setant might be better on Saint Nick..like that old Monty Python sketch says...Fear and Surprise.....(lol) no one expects the Setanta Inquisition.....

All teams dream of being allowed to run up the middle all day. But all teams plan to defend the corridor first. Wish it was as easy as just going in there but from what i have seen its not unless you play that suicidal footy of the bombers and ignore anything outside the corridor and win when it falls your way and lose when it doesnt.

I hope we come out of the blocks quick and play direct with quick ball movement through the middle.
