Apart from the 2 massive holes that were in the ground, it was in good shape.

I would say it still is in good shape as filth train on the same ground.

TALKING CARLTON vs DEMONLAND, Sunday 8th of Feb at Gosch's Paddock, 2pm. (Work In Progress)

If you know any people who follow the Blues who can be part of this ritual, then get them on board.

This is work in progress, so live, don;t take it as set in stone, as I need to work through my PM 's and add on messages. I just wanted to start to get something semi set and visual to reinforce the game in two weeks and ensure excitement.

Numbers are looking better, and over the next few days people may be moved etc. Any bench player is listed until I have firmed up where to put them in the starting line up or ensure there best position is identified so they can rotate on during the game.

My mate Pete has confirmed his availability (Played CHB last time), another mate is in also (KP forward with good skills). one of the other guys are out, and the other 2, who are midfielders (mate and his mate the Ex-Carlton player) i will touch base with closer to the game for confirmation.

great to see your numbers up...

great effort, barnesy... :thanks:

if it's going to be another close one, you guys have got to have a goal umpy/scorer this time...

so looking forward to this game...

the trophy has been delivered from the sponsors on demonology and, well, it's just a block of wood...

practical, given the rough usage this sort of silverware gets, but dunno if the duke would be impressed...

Working on the goal umpire / scorer.

I think we should have a 5 minute talk with all concerned before the game. Not a big pow wow, just a real quick thanks for playing, this is the umpire, the spirit to be played in, the view is to ensure this is annual etc etc and the mention of the trophy.

I think we need to also come to some mutual agreement now on a heat rule. We had one year where 40 was forecast. I think we need to pick a target and if it is forecast to be a certain temp above that we need to reconsider the game. Naturally a few factors, but I would suggest 36 or above then no go...... that is just my opinion but we need to be smart with this.

Hi Rollo,

I was having a look at you guys to see how things were travelling...

Just to clarify one part, we are not "threatening" to play an ex afl player .

Apparently an ex afl player who played for Carlton is a mate of someone on Talking Carlton, and the question has been asked..... we have not sought these type of players in an attempt to get an unfair advantage. I think it is important that your guys understand that and don't turn up with any unnecessary pre conceived ideas.

I just wanted to clarify that as my registration on Demonolgy did not allow me to respond.

Cheers

Barnesy

PS - can't wait, not too long to go.

Do you want to ask Cammo to goal umpire or score please if he is not that interested in playing?

Cheers

sorry, barnsey...

I thought we had dealt with the ex-AFL player in the posts above, i.e. see what happens and deal practically with it in the spirit of the game on the day...

will post a clarification on the demonland site for you...

the moderators on site should be able to assist you with activating your posting rights on demonland...

I still can't send pm's on here but it's not a major problem...

the majority of our leadership group have got back to me, and we agree and endorse all your other suggestions - pre-match gathering, heat etc...

can't wait to see the posts from thegezman if the game is called off...

our group has also suggested that any temperature above 28 degrees should see the game reduced to 15-minute quarters (can discuss this on the day)...

regards,

rollo

No probs.

Lets take the shortened quarters on the day but no worries.

It may be a reduced second half etc.

We can work with you guys and the umpire.

We will have a better idea on the temp come early next week.

I am working on a goal umpire and scorer, they can sit together.

I think the benches need to be closer this time.

Looking forward to it, lets hope all is good?

Have a good one,

Barnesy

Ok,

This is where we currently stand:

We will have listed between 25 - 30 players - Great Effort

We need to make sure if we are listed we are commited to the game, and if there are any issues we notify me / us asap.

I have formed a basic team list and position list which is subject to change over the next week.

Hopefully with the players listed in those positions we maybe able to form an ultra competitive team for the day.

There is no doubt with Fullmont, Italian Styles up front being supported by those around we should be able to kick a good score.

Down back, Orangelad, James Bond and myself with the other listed guys should be able to work out a solid defense with good size, height, and speed etc.

Midfield will come together, and we get more zip with Big Danny G back in.....

Rucks will hold their own.

There will be plenty of rotation, so all will get a good run.

It is important that we supply the following:

- goal umpire
- scorer
- bench official ( someone just to organise rotations from a list that can be provided)

If you can bring a spare blues jumper in case someone forgets theirs.

We will have the same umpire as last time, who did a brilliant job, and we will be playing for "The Duke Cup".......

A few years ago we organised ourselves well and hammered Collingwood, after a few years of scraping teams together, the last few games we dropped away a bit, and now the opportunity presents itself for us to take a step back up.

We will be watching the temperature, and naturally if any forecast gets to 36 and above we will need to reconsider, but all in all fingers crossed we can have a bloody good afternoon.
