I came living in Carlton from Malta back in 1951 as a boy and I was amazed seeing the kids kicking a leather watermelon in the park off Swanston Street, few years later went to see my first match and never looked back since, Go Blues. :-D

1. Australian with Cornish bloodlines (cook a mean cornish pasty)

2. My older bro pretty much gave me no choice . . . Thank god. The alternatives were my sisters (Coll), Mum (Ess) or Dad (Rich). My brother idolised KennyHunter when he was young so I guess that's why he's blue . . .

My mother's from Iceland and my father's from Cuba. I guess that makes me an ............. ice cube!!!! BOOM BOOM.

Nah, really:

1 - What is your Ethnic background ?
Jewish atheist born in Carlton to Eastern European parents, raised in East Brunswick, went to Princes Hill Primary, Grandfather was very active in the Brunswick branch of the ALP and was involved in the setting up of the Aboriginal Advancement League.

2 - Why did you choose to support the Mighty Blues ?

Given the above, what else was even possible??????

First game I went to was the 1964 drawn game at Princes park b/w Carlton and Collingwood. Weideman kicked 6 goals 5 for the Filth and Turkey Tom Carroll kicked 6 goals 6 for us. I think I also went to every Tuesday and Thursday training session in 1963, but never went to a game till the following year.....

We are the dago blues,

we are the old old dago blues,

were the only team from dago town

You know we're Carlton because our banners are in italian

We are the only team on visaas

we are the greasy dago blues...

Remember Collingwood Cheer Squad people singing that in the '70's.

I was waiting for someone to post that. The Hawks cheersquad had one as well, mentioning someof the players by name. (Silvagni etc) I only heard it once at PP, many years ago.
I am Irish/Spanish/English, born in Melb.
My dad was a mad Blues supporter all his long life. Apparently he used to send me down the street to a friend's house (Richmond supporter) as a kid to sing out 'Carn Blues' when we beat them.
My granddaughter is a Blues supporter but doesn't know it yet. My son-in-law has begged me not to buy my forthcoming grandson a blues jumper because he is a Lions supporter. I have agreed but told him the change will come later when we are a power again.

As about 50% of the people here my Dad is Italian emigrated in 1969 and Mum is English emigrated in 1963... Dad first moved to Moonee Ponds and is therefore an Essendon* man, but Mum was Carlton, so by thye time I was 4 and my brother was 2 (1979) Dad had made me and my brother Essendon* boys, but mum looked so lonely over there, so I went with her and I said "I barrack for Carlton now!" after the belting, we won a flag and I had number 11 on my duffel coat and have never looked back...

September 1993 was a bad time for me...

He should be able to blow some of these '7th generation Australians' out of the water.

Saw a few references to 7th generation Australians in the thread and then thought about DOA who could lay claim to being a 1000th generation Australian. That's all. :)
