Now that it looks like the 'pub deal' has fallen through, it's interesting to read back over the thread and see how certain this seemed at the time.

A salient reminder that despite the best of intentions, things don't always work out as you envisage.

A pity, because I'm sure quite a few people put in a whole lot of work to try and get this up. Thanks to them for their efforts, regardless.

Why am I not surprised by your MO.

When something you reckon is a "certainty" falls over, your best defence is "some stuff happens".

FFS.

Perhaps you are not as "in the know" as you purport to be.

So wonderful to be wise after an event with this sort of defence.
Might be better off not trying to big-note prior to an event but then I guess the crowd wouldn't have someone to 'ooohhhhhh' and 'aaahhhhh' over would they.

I'm still waiting for confirmation about the pubs deal falling through before I feel all sorry for us.

That's a bit uncalled for, he doesn't have to post up stuff for our benefit.

How the hell is this Synbads fault?
The club announced the deal, Synbad is merely informing you why it fell over?
Whats that got to do with being "in the know" or not.. smacks of airing your perosnal vendetta against a poster for the mere sake of it

The pub deal was announced in the media so clearly the club thought it was a near certainty. Why would Synbad feel any different?

If you want to blame someone for the deal falling through go blame the board, I'm sure they'd be ecstatic about the gratitude your showing for all the unpaid work they're putting in.

Synbad and others we are very greatful for your info, and do appreciate that things change. Does not mean they were not correct in the first place.

They were correct in that the Club, and certain Directors putting the deal together, thought it was going to happen and were working hard towards it.

Deals die all the time. Maybe some equity fell through, maybe an investor didn't want to sell on that basis. maybe someone resented Carlton getting a free kick on this.

None of this means it wasn't put together well or those with a source made a mistake at all - for christ's sake it was announced publicly. This has nothing to do with posters reporting it on a site.

Pity it fell through but there's more in the pipeline.

And why would it be Collo's fault? The Dome deal?
