Didn't Gilham play on Miller? I only missed maybe 30mins all up of that game.

Come to think of it, I think you're right. Then it was Dawson who kept Neitz quiet! Look out!

Even Livo could keep Neitz quiet

I think Gilham will become a great CHB in the coming years. Was disappointed Carlton didn't make aplay for him or draft him.

Well, Mjonc, the pick we gave away for Frenchy back in 02 i.e. our second round pick, Port used that pick to draft Gilham.

Great thinking BV.

Put Walker in the middle against Mitchell. Walker has great defensive experience, and at the moment he is unbeatable in the 1 on 1's (after one round of NAB).

Walker is a supreme athlete, and is in the best shape anyone has seen.

Lets attack. Stick him in the middle.

We shouldn't be so absorbed and concern ouselves so much on our defensive match ups. We're right there. What do our boys have to do?

1. Get the nut

2. Run off.

3. Teamwork for possession

I'd back Carlton at the stopages, defensively and around the ground with:

Walker, Murphy, Stevens roving to Cloke/ Ackland

vs

Mitchell, Bateman, Crawford roving to Cambell/ Dawson :-D

IMO Carlton can do it....and we've got plenty in reserve to rotate through there ( Kouta, Gibbs, Carrazzo, Simpson,Bentick and of late Russell and Jackson). Kennedy can ruck in the forwardline with Whitnall, and Ackland/ Cloke rucking the middle and backline, with rests in the FP....she'll be right.

We're gonna get better for last week's run. Thornton will be the General in the backline. Big game for Bret, playing against his almost new master. Remebeber Hawks in chasing valued Thornton as only worth pick 26 or something)...he'll play like he was worth pick 6.

IMO Walker's the form man in the AFL anywhere past the forwardline for mine ...well that's from seeing all the games on the box ...and we've got him and (the Dawks don't)

If Dawson is playing in the ruck, then we've won the ruck battle already.

All Ackland or Cloke has to do is jump into him and he'll fold faster than a china man on washing day.

I was at the time, but in reality we have tall defenders covered at the moment. Its going to be difficult for the ones we have to all get a game

We're over rating Walks a tad aren't we??

I love Walker and he is one of my favourite players but he has a bit of work to do still - hes frustrating to the point that you can see how good he can /will be but he still doesnt pull it off completely.

He is still good though

Wish he nailed that kick when he burst through the middle last week - that as embarrassing

Campbell will be our #1 ruckman during the main season, but Taylor was given most of the ruckwork last week. Both will be playing on Saturday night, along with Brent Renouf who was impressive last week, albeit not so much in the ruck.

I think Cloke is going to be the suprise recruit of the year.

played well last weekand should have kicked 2 goals as well.

Cloke will impress agan me thinks.

I hope Ackland turns up.

He was quiet on sat.

ANYWAY

No spiders to swat at Hawthorn no more.

Might stop them winning a flag

Not really. I wasn't discussing his kicking prowess...I was focussed on his ability to win 1 on 1's against KP's (Croad in 06, Hird 07) and also against the smalls.

Having watched all games of round 1 NAB cup (albeit edited versions on Fox  ), this is what I based my assessment on.

Walker, whilst he may have fumbled at times, did not lose the ball...he may have nullified it and sent it out of bounds, but he wasn't beaten.

The point is that Walker below the knees is exceptional, and if we are concerned with Mitchell (Hawks ball magnet) and who we put on him...Walker could do the job, and on the flip side win the nut and send us forward.

I'm interested to see who takes Crawford & Bateman. We have to nullify their run and supply to Franklin.

Changes to the 28 man squad not the 24 man team.

Changes to the Hawthorn squad:

OUT: Ladson (injured), Brown (suspended), Vandenberg (general soreness), Muston
IN: Murphy, Kennedy, Moss, Gibson

Dying to see Tuck and Kennedy line-up on the ground!
