No mention of actual contract lengths for Eddie Betts and Brad Fisher in this article:

http://carltonfc.com.au/default.asp?pg= ... eid=301418

They're listed here as 2008 but do we actually know they got 2 year deals? Or do we also assume that since it doesn't say anything they got 1 year deals?

I've assumed 2 years BW. Generally, I think 2 years is probably the norm, unless a player is on thin ice, or a gun. I reckon both Betts and Fisher, at that time, would have both warrented 2 years. But you are right, it is an assumption.

But malleefowl has assumed 1 year for Ryan Houlihan, Jordan Bannister and Anthony Raso. If you read the 2 articles their almost identical:

Quote:
Carlton’s Ryan Houlihan, Jordan Bannister and Anthony Raso have all committed to continuing their careers at the Carlton Football Club.

"We are very pleased that Ryan, Jordan and Anthony have all recommitted themselves to the Carlton Football Club and we look forward to them playing many games for Carlton in the future.

Quote:
Carlton youngsters Eddie Betts and Brad Fisher have committed to continuing their careers at the Carlton Football Club.

"We believe Eddie and Brad will play vital roles for the club going forward, we look forward to them playing many games for Carlton in the future."

I agree. Eddie, Fish, Houla, Banno and Raso are all on the same level. We don't know. They could be one or two years.

Have I missed something here BW? Saying someone has rocks in their head is offensive? What if I called them ignorant instead? :-D

Don't think that it means they have all been given the same duration contract, but whatever, we don't know if they've been given one or two. In which case...

I asked the Club about these contract extension details and apparently it is new Club policy to not disclose terms of contracts. Even Carlton Communications didn't know. So unless we get a good sneaky leaker I am not sure how we're going to get this information?

Perhaps this new policy is direct result of the Brett Thornton/Jordan Russel saga.

Bugger, thanks for asking Molsey. May not be a bad thing though, the more of that kind of stuff remains in house, the better off the Club is going to be, IMHO. Won't stop player managers letting on to other clubs about contractual status', but just tightens the ship generally.

Having said that, anyone know any sneaky leakers???

it is definately a positive.

no one should know about contracts until they are signed sealed and delivered.

eliminates all speculation and rumours.

Must have come in very recently:

http://carltonfc.com.au/default.asp?pg= ... eid=303202 (16 October, 2006)

Quote:
In further good news for the Carlton Football Club CEO Michael Malouf announced today that 19 year old midfielder Jordan Russell has agreed to remain at Carlton for the next two years.

In further good news for Carlton supporters today, both Simon Wiggins and Luke Blackwell have agreed to new two-year contracts with Carlton.

http://carltonfc.com.au/default.asp?pg= ... eid=303137 (14 October, 2006)

Quote:
Carlton CEO Michael Malouf is delighted to announce that Bret Thornton has agreed to a new three agreement to continue his career with the Carlton Football Club.

What will we do around here if we can't all speculate on who's out of contract & a chance to be delisted?

That's exactly what I said BW.

Could be just decision making on the run?

That is crap. Do you think they are not going to promote how many years they give to a high profile player? The length of the contract is always part of the announcement. All we are doing is to try and find the length of the lesser profile players. Let's see if they keep the details of a Murphy extension out of the news.

It will probably depend on whether the player/ manager take it to the media. Those that do will probably get revealed. Those that don't will probably not.

I guarantee the club will take Murphy's to the media.
