Gibbs, trade him and get his inconsistent efforts out the door. He is a major part of all our false sense of what was achievable success.

He talks the talk but plays like a fairy in the middle. He is a good player with ball in hand when he is in space but midfield is not his go, that would require desire to be the best, motivation to be the best and ruthless aggression. He is good outside player that it play him off half back all in the forward line and then see what he is worth.

Sloane is not more talented than Gibbs but is a genuine ball player and what he lacks in talent he makes up for with utter desire and determination.

Gibbs sucked us all in by winning the BnF last year and stuck us with a huge 5 year contract.

Trade him to Port he'll add value to them, the less accountable he is the better he'll play they have a lot of great players his importance will not be as heavily reliant as he needs to be for us to be a successful side.

Get Ollie Wines in the swap and start building with somebody who gives effort 100 percent of the time.

Watch how Gibbs jogs backwards once the ball slightly passes him he plays with zero intensity and it creeps through the side when he is last year best and fairest.

Thomas is a big loss because his tackling and effort is infectious, Gibbs has never inspired by his effort, sublime talent but not the talent that will get us where we need to be.

I hope he proves me wrong.

trade him tomorrow for a future 1st round and a future 2nd round draft pick and cash considerations

there are a couple of VFL players we could probably sign to 10 day contracts too

I don't want anyone traded but don't mind if the club explores anything that will make this club better.

They can do what they like, just don't @#$%&! it up.

Losing Gibbs seems a bit drastic.

What an embarrassing statement. Ranked top 35 in the competition last year for average contested possessions ahead of the likes of Jordan Lewis, Kieran Jack, Levi Greenwood and Ryan Griffen.

You can't say anyone is untradeable but at least get your facts right.

The club should be ashamed of what it has done to the premiership prospects of the likes of Murphy and Gibbs with its haphazard list management, recruiting and coaching appointments.

This is an embarrassing thread. Unfortunately, we run a lot of them.

Far from responsible for our start to the year. Gibbs is probably our best player and spurned massive deals with other clubs to sign long term last year. Somehow that makes him a parasite and not a loyal servant of the club. Imagine the damage it would do to player confidence if we then shipped him for a better deal. People rail on about what's wrong with the club in here (not unreasonably at times) and this would certainly add to it, not help repair it.

The original post is ban worthy. It's one of the reasons why so many good former posters have left this site.

Everyone should be on the trade table for the right deal.

We have a shocking list and we need to start again. We need talented kids coming through and lots of them.

I like Gibbs but if a deal came up that would benefit us greatly going forward we would be mad not do it.

The same goes for Murphy, Yarran, Kruezer, Tuohy, Henderson, Walker, Menzel (who I would consider for right deal as I believe he will go back to SA anyway) etc.

The future needs to start being built around Docherty, Cripps, Jaksch. That's about it. :yikes:

PS Before the usual suspects jump up and down, No, not all once but definitely for the right deals and that needs to be early picks or young talent.

I won't enter the Gibbs debate because he is contracted.
With free agents in general my stance would be that the free agent would need to re-commit the year prior to becoming a free agent otherwise you will be traded.

Get a load of this rubbish.
Fair enough you're frustrated but have a read.
You know he has a suss shoulder whereas last year he was fit and strong.
We can't afford to rest him, but should just as GCS have done after being exposed by exposing champions to this ruthless game when not fit.

Sloan, Thomas....different players....different circumstances....how do you know Gibbs doesn't inspire? I've heard different.

2 losses, another lean season perhaps, but let's be realistic...we have to build a list to challenge but we have to be competitive otherwise no one will attend games ala 2003-4.

Psych says everyone is trade able for the right deal and fair enough.mhes not saying get rid of our stars coz they're crap. He makes sense, you don't.

Seem to be an Angry Collingwood supporter who loved Thomas.

Half the list is under 23; move on.

Gibbs is a required player under any conditions and would only be traded under a scenario where we stand to gain substantially.
