A few negative threads around...

but geesh I'm excited about 2011. A deep list, specific recruiting to resolve some short and longer term problems, heaps of options at half forward which I'm looking forward to seeing, and hopefully a more complete midfield to support the great Chris Judd -

Surely top 4 is the target. And possible.

If we don't play in a Preliminary Final this year, I'll be pretty disappointed.

Yeah, we all will be. But how are you feeling about the 2011 season? Excited?

I am.

I know it's early days, but I really can't see any gaping holes on our list.
Yes there are some newies who will need time to develop like Watson (but he may break into the side this year for all we know...he looks ready), McCarthy and Mitchell. I love the new recruits Laidler Duigan Curnow and Collins etc etc.

I believe the perceived weakness at CHB will be stemmied by the improvement of our midfield, in terms of fitness, 2nd efforts, defensive pressure, new tactics, our depth and natural improvement that comes with maturity...and of course they will be fed in the middle by 206 Warnock, Kreuzer and Hammer.

I look at Hawthorn as our biggest challenge with their 3 class talls Roughie Buddy and Hale as challenging for the likes of Jamison, Bower and Laidler/ Austin/ Setanta ...whoever gets the third tall. But if we improve further up field as we did in 2010, we may be able to dampen the impact they normally would have.

Who knows how 2011 will pan out.
What we do know is that we are improving every year and no doubt imo our list has improved since the last trade period, we have plenty of depth and it's difficult to fit all our bona fide AFL ready players in the 22.

The on field signs for 2011 are bloody fantastic for the Bluebagger...give us the cup now.

Me too. We have the list to do it. As always things could change with injuries to key players but given reasonable luck we can now mix it with the best.

I cannot wait.

I cannot wait to see the new kids - the kids and the older blokes

I cannot wait to see Hendo/Warnock/Waite/Kruise/Maclean/Lucas and co - some injured, some coming back from injuries and some having a year to get used to the place.

I cannot wait to see Yazz, Garlett, Army, Bettsy, and others running the lines, the blue jumper catching the light and bringing shimmering memories of the times gone by.

I cannot wait to see a backline settled, strong and ready to drive us forward after repelling an attack.

I cannot wait to see Judd again
with Murph, Gibbs, Carrots, Ellard and any others they rotate through there.

I cannot wait and must

but shit I cannot wait for the big games

the magpie games where I reckon we will slam 'em!

the bomber games where we will dack 'em!

the tiger games where we will annihilate 'em!

I can't wait to smash the cats, thrash the hawks, kill the roos, break the swans, bamboozle the lions and so on.

This year we will be one of the top four. A force. A chance.

This year is the year we return.

I can't wait!

I took serious interest in the ritual slaughter of a bunch of 17 year olds on Saturday.
I cannot f-ing wait.
Bring on Richmond.
It is going to be a big year for the Famous Old Dark Blues!

I'm hopeful for 2011. There's so much potential and talent in this group, but it all depends on the mental discipline and application. If we drop our bad habits (that cost us badly towards the end of last year) we'll be right up there.

The Franklin, Roughead, Hale query is a good one

Wouldn't be totally surprised to see a Kruezer roam across HB in such a scenario, if we are getting hurt

Absolutely !

I'm looking forward to seeing the work rate increased with lots of pressure when we don't have the footy and lots of spread and options provided when we do have the footy. More mature bodies and desperation to keep their spots should see us much more competitive.

Me too. I hope for top 4 but expect that at the very least we are in contention for top 4 in the last 2-3 weeks of the season.

One of the positives for me is that our group of list cloggers is very small, smaller than for ages.

I'm excited because every spot in the team has 2-3 players competing for it. Let them openly compete for their place in the team and we could go anywhere.
