I hope the mods dont remove this thread, as I would like to hear other's opinions.

Ratten's gameplan is very 1 dimensional, very reactive and generally ineffective.

Others, please share your thoughts.

Too early but questions need to be asked. The question is Who is going to ask them? His mates?

If you asked, who would you replace him with?

At some point the players need to take responsibility for their inconsistent effort.

Wouldn't want to start a new thread, so hoping someone else will.

Perhaps it would go like......

Who would you like to be coaching Carlton?

Ratten
Roos
Malthouse
Matthews
Thompson
Laidley
Elmo (I reckon he has as much idea as Ratten)

Please add additional candidates as appropriate.

Tonight was awwful.

Fansites for every team that loses this weekend has a thread about sacking the coach. (maybe excluding Richmond because Hardwick just got there).

Cant be the players they are our Heroes !

Gutless effort by the team tonight. Lets hope they are not looking for cheap excuses and come out next week and play with some heart.

Unfortunately for Ratten he wasn't appointed via a thorough selection process, we should have had an independent selection panel.

If we did and they came up with Ratten as the best option there would be less pressure on him.

Overall poor performance from the coaches and players tonight

YES

but only when they have worked out who is going to replace him.
No point sacking him and bringing in a caretaker for the whole year.

Ratts was my favourite player - had his number on my jumper, met him several times is a lovely guy BUT has no alternative when things going wrong. Repeating the same mistake over and over again is a real worry

Or like when we last got an inexperienced coach like Brittain, and he failed, we replace him with a very experienced coach on the way out.

The candidates are Malthouse, Williams, Bailey, that bloke from Fremantle.

Seriously there ain't much putting their hand up to say I can take a young team to a premiership.

Silvagni?

It is not a question of being replaced, more questioning methodologies, plans, skills. Not sure that the hierachy at Carlton has shown they have the expertise to make a good fist of that. Love to know what the Leading Teams guys thought of tonight.

No simplistic answers to that performance at this early stage to the season.

those talking about sacking him clearly did not watch the player errors and lack of effort changes are required but not in the box unless lethal wants a gig

You can't be this simple. Who said anything about rebuilding? The players need to take some responsibility and provide consistent effort. Gameplans, structure, being proactive, reactive. None of that means shit if the players aren't willing to work.
