A lot of us love to argue on here , particularly with Synbad , hell I've had an argument with Synbad in my time on here and TBV but who hasn't !!??

But the fact of the matter is - Synbad knows his stuff , everything that i have read posted by Synbad recently has been 100% spot on.

Alas alot of us have wizard cup rose colored glasses on still , like those beer goggles that just wont go away unil its too late and you wake up next to a mule. Our mule would be 6 wins or more , or a 500K + contract to Campo or Lance.

Our club is dying because the system is killing us , we need to take one more where it hurts , then turn around and shove it straight back in demetrious face when we have some top talented players on our list next year.

Would sure beat the option of a mule.

What i really want to clarify is what exaclty are peoples feelings , there has been a lot of argument over tanking/playing youngsters to get picks and playing to win.

I personally want to see youngsters giving an effort - that way we dont tank but at the same time wont be good enough to win. Then next year BAM right up the AFLs sphincter.

So what is it we all want ?

I want a PP. However even if we play the kids I can't see us not winning more than 2 games. We are bound to pinch a few games here and there. The only wasy I can see us getting one is if Denis tanks, which I can't see him doing.

We MUST get a PP!!! And I have formed this view on my own - not due to Synbads' rantings (just in case those against PP's suggest we are all sheep)

I want the first 2 picks but we don't need to tank if we are developing a side.

I don't want us deliberately losing but I definately want us to play the kids, but only the kids who are ready to play. I want to see Hartlett, Blackwell and Fisher play before the year is out, I want to see us persist with Simpson and Bentick, and I want us to try and win every single game. I don't want to see us tank, and I don't want getting a priority pick to be our sole remaining goal for the season ahead. If it comes it comes but lets not actively seek it. That's what I want.

No, Jordan Russell to debut? I'm rapt we got him instead of Egan who is playing senior footy, but then Walker was better than Cooney at this stage last year. I'd give Russell a game in the last month when the tracks are faster and he's coming along nicely in the VFL without the added pressure of winning senior games.

If he's ready I'd love to see him play in the seniors.

GO FOR THE WIN!

Upcoming games that we can (and after our Pre-Season form-SHOULD) Win!:

Sydney (TD)
Brisbane (TD)
Bulldogs (NT)
Port (MCG)
Freo (MCG)
Hawthorn (MCG)
Essendon* (MCG)
Collingwood (MCG)
North (TD)

that'll be 9 wins thanks! Plus 2.5 = 11.5 Wins and an improvment on last year! And who know's, we could cause an upset or two that could see us scrape into the 8!

Am i dreaming..........i don't think so.

Of course, if it's round 22 and we are on 5 wins - TANK IT BOYS!

Getting a PP will be a side-effect of playing the kids, as they don't have the skill and experience to win too many more.

Play the kids. Give them the experience in prep for 06.

There is, however, a difference between playing the kids and tanking....it should have been a separate poll option.

Maybe it will but I don't consider playing the kids the same thing as tanking. It's just planning for the future. Besides at this point I don't see much difference between some of our senior players and our kids.

(C) Play kids as required, while going all out for wins and see where we end up. if it's 6.5 wins instead of 5.5 then so be it.

Grrofunger, a little something called push polling I think.

With you on that one.....

I think the poll should have had 3 options, lumping tanking and playing the kids together is misleading.

There is a big difference between tanking and playing kids.

There is no way the club can contemplate tanking games. That is a serious breach of the rules we play by and there are also ethical implications to this. As appealing as a PP is considering the condition of our playing list, I don't think any Carlton person is suggesting to deliberately tank games.

Changing the selection policy to focus more strongly on playing the kids on our list is probably what we are all suggesting in terms of future development and gain at the cost of short term pain. If that results in a PP then all the better. I actually think that even if this selection policy was adopted we will still win more than 4.5 wins anyway (remember that 5.5 wins and we don't qualify for the PP). It does happen that the kids eventually build confidence and can get on a roll and win a few games. Just look at how we finished off in 2004.

Another way to reduce our chances of winning games this year is for Denis and MC to continue with their current selection policy of not dropping players who are badly out of form! That would be a given to our continued poor form!!!

WTF? care to elaborate on what the hell you just said? :?

Are you resting your case in relation to 'YES', we should be aiming for wins or that we should be content to suffer at the bottom of the ladder, add another spoon to our proud history and cop shit from 100,000's of football fans accross australia.

?

If you go back to the original post in this thread, in amongst his general pro-Synbad rant grrofunger said that people on this site still have their Wizard Cup Coloured glasses on.

You then posted that, on the basis of our Wizard Cup form, we should be able to win 11.5 games this season. You couldn't have proved his point more if you'd been trying.

The "we're better than his cause we were good in the Wizard Cup" line is a pet hate of mine. The "lets still try and win games" lobby should really refer to last season when trying to argue their case, cause at least those 10 wins were real.

Each to their own i guess.....................but if you want to argue the point more, then let's leave the Wizzard Cup out of it entirely! Glasses of off!

Are we a worse team than last year! Shit yes! Has our team changed much. No it hasn't! In fact it's pretty much the same team!

So even if we lost every Wizard Cup game..........i'd still be pissed of because WE ARE BETTER than the way we have been playing!
