Another demand by Fev's manager. Sounds like Allison to me this Connors fellow...

Honestly, if he won't sign what the club offers, then we can trade him. If he wants 500K, he shouldn't get it unless he can fulfil certain requirements, including consistency of form.

I respect the boards Football ability and if they don't think Fev is worth the money ... they should trade him but as I said before ...

if Collingwood want him and they finish last or second last they will give virtually nothing for him ... why should they? they can just pick him up in pre season draft ... we will be lucky to get a token third round pick from them.

that is why I think the club should sign him for three years at 500k even if they have doubts about his ability.

I don't care if Fev goes to the Pies as long as we get a first round pick or a good player like Tarrent...which we could get next year or a player such as Kelly from Geelong.

Fev is one of the few assets the club has and it is a tricky game to play ... they might think we'll geelong will make us an offer at the end of the year with a good player exchange... and they might just do that but what if Fev decides I will just go the pies?

Players under contract are worth a lot more in trades than players out of contract ... Hawthorn got a thirst and second round pick for Thomson .... and we might get only a third for Fev

By my reckoning this club has only five players that other clubs would give us a first round pick for ... they are
Walker, waite, fev , Stevens, T-baird ... that's it fellas ... I don't think we would even get a first round pick for lappin because of his age now.

a first round pick is worth 12 months of football and we might just lose one for nothing

The club stalled talks with Fev a couple of weeks ago.
The club is playing it masrt by putting the ball back in Fevs fault.
Its pretty confident that Fev will stay.
Paul Connors is usually a responsible manager but Collingwood have come to the party offering Fev in the 600k plus mark.
Fevs management is trying to maxamise this for Fev, its believed Fev would want to stay.
I think we will have him signed up sooner rather than later.

I hope your right Synbad.

If the board had second thoughts about Fev ... they should have traded him last year when under contract ... the cats probably would have given us Kelly and Malony for him

I think Fev's manager has a @#$%&! nerve spouting the sort of crap he is given the shit form Fev has shown over the season and the lack of team play and ill-discipline which has arguably cost more than just the 2 matches he's been rubbed out for.

When the revolution comes, player managers will be the first against the wall......and I don't think anyone will cry for them when they are gone.

Who would Kelly and Moloney have kicked it to, though?

I liked these quotes:

Quote:
...while Pagan, who barely communicated with Fevola for the first week of his two-match suspension, reminded the player this week that it was the Sunday Footy Show that last June highlighted an incident involving Richmond's Nathan Brown for which Fevola was later charged and suspended for two weeks.

Quote:
...with Pagan's words that he will not be judged on his goal tally but upon his team performance ringing in his ears.

and

Quote:
He is understood to have apologised to his teammates for his recent absence due to suspension

That is a very interesting article with plenty of tidbits in there only telling half the story I bet. The comments on some of the club's directors grabbed my attention, hopefully they will do the same for Fev. And, erm, nice work by Channel Eddie.

Agree with the sentiments being posted. Option a) is to keep Fev IMO, but if he takes option b) of pushing the salary envelope then I guess we'll see if Carlton really is in a new era of list management and trading/recruiting.

I really can't see Fevola leaving. His manager is acting on his behalf, I feel if it came down to it Fev would take less to stay with the Blues.

I was thinking this morning, if you were him you'd at least try to bluff the club into giving you $600k

Simple solution:

Fev: you kick lots of goals EVERY week for the rest of the year

Carlton: you then sign him for decent money

Well done by the club...Fevs form doesnt warrant such a massive rise and I hope we play hard ball and dont cave into his managers demands.
I would expect him to do the right thing and re-sign with a reasonable contract that rewards him for effort...Geelong have plenty of players out of contract but expect the players to want to stick together and not make outlandish demands and ask for open market value contracts....
Apart from Scarlett and Ottens..all the Geelong boys are on 2 year deals..I hope we do the same for many of our players...

Guys,

Surely Fevola is one of the few A Grade players that we have. He is also probably one of a smaller group that would actually be rated by opposition sides. His form has been poor but we know he is capable of being a match winner. Simon Black's form for Brisbane isnt too flash at the moment, you reckon they will be offloading him anytime soon?

I am sure that Fev doesnt go out and aim to have bad games. If he is capable but just not getting there, then getting him to play at his best is the job of the coaches, physio's medicos etc etc. Granted he has to follow Denis' plan, granted also he cant do that when he is suspended etc, but somebody tell me why, when we have so few 'A' grade players we would want to trade him off for any reason. A 1st round draft pick in exchange is still a lottery. Livo is living proof of that!

Fev said a couple of weeks ago that talks were on hold until the end of the season.

To be honest Fev has not performed since his return from suspension last year (Wizzer Cup excepted). A good full forward averages 3 goals a game, one that is supposed to be amongst the best needs to average high 3s to 4 a game.

While I do except Fev to stay and I am more than happy to have him, I would not be to upset if he goes. The board will handle the negoiations in the best interests of teh club

I really like Fev but the times of 3 year multi buck contracts are over.

We have got stung in the past and it limits your opportunity to get other good players.

Even Hawthorn have a club policy (from what i believe) of not allowing 3 plus years of big buck contracts since they got stung in 2001.

Collingwood are just being mischievous
- i don't think they even seriously wanted Brown. They just wanted to push up his cost for the Lions.

As much as i would hate to lose Fev, i think the club needs to make a statement here, hence if we lose Fev for nothing , we wear it, free up a shit load of money and continue to rebuild.

Fev does not deserve to be paid on potential, no player does.

If he is serious abouthis passion and love for the game, he'll do the right thing, otherwise who gives a..... Let him go ruin some other teams future list development....

650 k who is he kidding ??

Stay True Fev and stay Blue !!

Re: BV's point on Camporeale (here we go again...you may think)

But you people can't tell me honestly that we should pay Camporeale 620K...

He's worth 300K no more. He won't get bigger offers from other clubs - I can't see a club being stupid enough to offer him 350/400K at the age of 30. If they did, well, we'd want a decent pick, a first rounder is what we'd want. If we can't, then well, we'll see what loyalty he really has, and if he's willing to screw the club that's provided for him for 11 years.

CC I do not think anyone is arguing that he is currently worth 600K.

That is just common sense. There is nothing we can do about it till the end of the year.

Of course he will be on a much lower contract next year, wherever he is.

What a lot of people get upset about is the rhetoric and vitriol that is directed towards him. Criticism is good, but it goes over the top far too often.

I know you guys are trying to push his price down so that the club can save some money at the end of the year, but it just is relentless and frustrating.
