Damn! Poor old Fish can't take a trick.

Bad luck Fish, stay positive, you will still kick 40 goals this year :-)

Losing Fisher is obviously a blow, but it gives the likes of Edwards, Hartlett & Aisake an opportunity to push for selection in the lead up to Round 1.

Does anyone know when in the game he suffered the injury? I know he was off in the 2nd half, but I had assumed that was just about managing his workload. Did he do it early on? If so, that might explain his pretty average performance when he was on the ground (I had put it down to lack of match fitness...)

Anyway, get well soon Fish!!!

bad luck Fish!

Stick Setanta in the forward line with Edwards, Fev and Harts and keep Jamo, Thornton and Waite as our key backman. Throw is Saddington for some experience.

Or, can we afford to play Waite as a forward and use Jamo, Thornton or Setanta at CHB?

On the plus side it's an injury that's not really going to prevent him from training and keeping his fitness up, unlike his previous seasons. And it opens the door for Hartlett or Edwards to take the position by the scruff.

Thank god it happened now. If it had to happen, better it now than later on in the season.

Get well soon Fish! See you back bigger and stronger!

any doctors or phsyios in the house?

Does a break at the base of the thumb mean that he will lose strength through the thumb, and maybe some of his trademark "stick" in the marking contest, or is there little or no residual or lingering damage with this sort of break?

Damn Fisher injured, was wondering what HELLAS BLUE meant, Jake Edwards will now get his chance to play up forward with Fishers injury.

I hope it's only 6 weeks the most so he only misses round 1,we need him to play all the remaining 25 games of the season, lol,we hope.

I'm not an orthopedic surgeon (reminds me of the gag - I'm not a gyno but I'll have a look at it for you), but my understanding is that it can be a real bugger to get over these thumbs. Matty Lloyd missed about 10 weeks of diving and Sticks also missed 2 months with a thumb injury.

I also assume that it would really stuff up the sticky hands . No ball bursting one-grabbers for quite a while
