New rumour doing the rounds of the bowels of the AFL is that even if Carlton doesn't win another game for the rest of 2007, the AFL will invoke the rarely-used "Ron Evans Incantation" Rule 52.5a (c) to penalise the Blues for "Bringing the game into disrepute through blatant 'tanking of games' ", and the Club will be penalised their first 4 draft picks until 2021 to ensure they a/. they never climb off the bottom and b/. Essendon* have a chance of forging ahead in the race for most Premierships.
This rule will be invoked after Demetriou and Anderson could not displace Mike Fitzpatrick from his new role, and Fitzy was seen as the major obstacle towards ensuring Carlton's continued "patheticism".

Whilst I may be a bit facetious with this rumour (which I just started) I wouldn't put it past them.

Check the rule book....This rule states that there must only be sh!t food at the footy and there should NEVER be a pie and chips available if you require them

The rule also says that beer at the footy must be half flat, three quarters full and a minimum over charge of $5.60!

Nah, they'll just wait until we qualify, then change the rule so that to qualify you must win less than 12 games over three years, and then state that the last two years don't count and the three years starts in 2008.

I don't want to bite into this rumour, but I do have some advice.

bit controversial.... but i like the rule in it's current form.......... 2 shit seasons to properly qualify and stops skilled teams that are having an unlucky, injury ridden season tanking it
