Why haven't we drafted one such player (before ROK)?

There just aren't many around. Unlike the NFL they have to be more than just a good kick. There have been a couple of good kicks around but they just haven't got the other talent to go with it.

At the game, sitting behind Coventry end, could see how well Adelaide set the forward zone. Very Impressed, but must say that we attributed to its precision by remaining so static.

Easy to blame those handed the responsibility of kicking the ball in, but they had very little to kick to and with little protection.

We have played better and quicker through a zone as well set up as Adelaides before, but we simple were not prepared to block and gut run to assist the ball movement.

On the question on how to fix this concern, it comes down to hard work. Sides who exert the maximum pressure to block, run and kick effectively will win the battle. Remember the zone is a tactic used to great affect when your opposition is not prepared to roll up their sleeves.

I am convinced sides deliberately kick points against us, so that they can then kick a goal from our poor kickouts/turnovers in the back half.

Its called the "7 point play".

I even think Adelaide tried on one occassion for an "8 point play".

Interesting tactic the Crows have employed tonight and this season.

When someone has marked the kickout about 50m near the boundary line (Rutten or Stevens) they have a running type like McLeod nearby who will go and put a block on the player on the mark, allowing Rutten to play on, draw the man on the mark and give it to the runner (McLeod)

Umps don't seem to notice it so it's great coaching by the Crows.

So now we've established what the problem is and ways in which we may be able to fix it. But the next step would be to find someone who is an expert on this to possibly take over our defence and show them the way. Sos has been mentioned, but who else would be a good choice?
