Just heard a flash on Seven's news promo that Brisbane may not actually get a home final.

Probably something to do with the MCG/Etihad match fight.

Anyone heard anything about this? I'll watch Ten's Sports Tonight and let you know if they have anything more.

I was under the impression the MCG has a clause in its contract with the AFL for a guaranteed one final per week of the finals series, but I think that may have been slightly modified since that whole saga a few years back (1999/2000/2001?).

Whatever the case may be, there will be two finals in Victoria between four Victorian teams as it stands... don't see how it would happen.

My partner and I just booked our accommodation for this week in Brisbane. As much as I hope that Carlton would play a home final I really don't want to have to go through the mess of canceling my accommodation now.

Guess we shall see.

I agree. We aren't entitled to one, and shouldn't get one, but thought I'd let people know what MrsKK heard, and passed on to me.

That would be unreal if true. Surely it won't happen though. If I were a Lions fan I'd be absolutely furious.

I'm sure i heard the AFL only need to compensate Etihad stadium with two extra matches in the fixture next year if no final.

If the Dogs are thumped by over 50 points, ours will be the only interstate final. Bit of a bummer really.

That's because they don't have the broadcasting rights and want people to miss the game.
