..Betts named for ressies..?.. ..how about the others..?.. ..dunno why but i figured they'd not be playing at all this weekend.. ..kinda seems more a 'dropping' than actual suspension.. ..or rather, suspended from carlton seniors, but still allowed to play for carlton reserves.. ..like a suspension lite..

Hutchy backed up the point made in this thread about Cloke needing to play 10 games this season to get an automatic extension, he's played 9. No one else to blame but himself, what was he thinking! :donk:

Hutchy probably sourced that information from this very thread.

No, I wrote it down on a piece of paper and chucked it in the bin as I left work the other day.

Senior Carlton source advises:

1. stuff being late, had the club not called they would not have turned up at all;
2. Cloke lied about what had happened, but Eddie fessed up;
3. Punishment imposed by Coach and Football Director;
4. Penalty endorsed by Leadership Group and subsequently by the Board;
5. Cloke had the option to extend his contract by one year (at his option) if he played # games this year, and confirmed that he remains one short of the target.

View expressed that it is sad Garlett got caught up in it - However, Cloke and Eddie ought to have known better.

I was @ the Spirit of Carlton lunch today where they celebrated the 1972 & 1979 Premierships & the two players i saw first when i got there was Betts & Garlett.

A very Senior CFC player told us the players involved stayed out chasing skirt & missed the first 15 minutes of recovery!

What intrigued me when Robert Walls ask Juddy about the three players was if they had just been out late or turned up for recovery late then i don't think the club would of suspended them because they breached 2 team rules then there was no choice but to sit them out this week!

They might be needed during finals so we need to ensure they remain match-fit IF they are required...plus I want to see them bust their arses in the Bullants to try and get back in the Seniors, they need to get the hunger back...

If the 10 game contract clause is legit, it worked out beautifully for the Blues. I doubt we'd be wanting to re-newing his contract, we would have had to drop him this week a) because Hammer is ready and b)We won't be needing him in 2010.

I'm sure we would have had moe-man on the TV bitching about how we dropped CC to get out of the contract, rather than becaujse of bad form.

If that's true, that's very disappointing. Hard to forgive.

BTW, they couldn't have been 15 min late. The club has said that the players were called when they were late. For the club to call them, the players get out of bed, get dressed , drive to the club and show up for training, the club would have had to ring them before the session even started. Fev has said that by the time the players showed up, he was already gone. They were probably closer to an hour late as the club called them after 15 min.
