Maybe he sees it as a bit of a risk free way of enhancing his own reputation. If he's right and we make the grand final, he saw us as a threat weeks out, if he's wrong and we bomb out first week then he didn't really see us getting all the way.

He is a media commentator so it is his job to have an opinion. You for some reason excluded the logic he used to base his assumption that we are a chance and that is our record against the top 4 teams. StKilda we pushed, Geelong tick, Collingwood half tick, Bulldogs big tick. The grand final winner will come from one of those teams. For what it is worth our record against those teams is better than Colingwood and the Bulldogs and the equal of Geelong.

What role as a media commentator was he in when he made those comments? If he was on Ch7 or OTC or OWAAT then I'd understand, but it appears he's just giving his thoughts to the HS to a paid media commentator.

Sorry, but i just have to disagree with you.

What Kouta is saying is Spot On.

In fact, if you think back to 2001 when we finsihed 5th, we demolished Adelaide but then went down to Richmond the next week................ but had kouta not gone down with a knee injury in that match (he did have 2 goals and 15 possesions at half time before his knee) who knows, we just might have won and went on to meet Brisbane in the Prelim.

Sorry ryan, I'm not arguing whether he's right or wrong. Talking up our chances flies in the face of what Ratten is trying to do. Its in the best interests of our club to not comment on us being a threat.

Ok he should have said no comment.
In fact whoever is the past players President at the Carlton Football Club should send a letter to all past players and direct them not to talk up Carlton's chances :screwy:
Fev was on the sunday footy show after we beat geelong and said the same thing about our record against the top teams and that with a young group you never know what could happen.

While I fully understand the need to "keep a lid on it", to "not get ahead of ourselves" and various other sporting cliches, the reality is we're going to be in the finals for the first time in 8 years. It's @#$%&! exciting!!!

It's like after the longest wait, finding out that this girl you really dig, that you've dug for a long time, really likes you too. You kinda half don't want to believe it or speak of it for fear of jinxing it. But you can't help yourself because all you can really think of is what it could be and how amazing it could be.

Kouta is just like us. A man who loves is club and is dreaming about what could be. He can't help it.

Let's not take the romance out of the game. Tis' the season.
