In 2004 I decided to try my hand at coaching and did an asistant coaching role. Decided I wanted the top job at a club and did that for two years in 05 and 06. Went back to asistant coaching in 2007 before taking over the top job mid year when the coach was sacked due to his poor record.

At the end of 2007 we secured a great mid-fielder I like to call "The Champ".

Still in the head coach position and hope to coach the team in a finals series this year.

I'm confused.

Is Verbs Brett Ratten?
Or Tony Barber reliving his halcyon days?

Great thread this.

Finished high school in 2003
Spent 2 years at Uni mainly in the bar
Discovered CSC and consequently TBV
Spent way too much time on both
Moved across to TC when what happened happened
Deferred Uni for a year and got a traineeship
Never went back
Moved companies in traineeship, finished said traineeship
Went on The Einstein Factor
Was kept on, been on the books for just on 2 years
Holidayed in Wales for a week in 2007 and met a bunch of online friends in person
Going back there on Wednesday
Still single and frustrated by the fact

Wow, that sounds like a lot when it's all put down like that.

That's okay Browny.

I used to think that Belasarius was either Brett Ratten or the guy who produces NCIS and was the creator of Magnum PI. After reading his life story in this thread I realised he must be the latter so just assumed I am in fact Ratten, and verbs is Brett's alter ego he uses when he's asleep at night. I ran this by a few people and they all thought it sounded pretty reasonable, so it was quite simple to post up my life story since 2001 in here.

But this is a thread in the Talking Carlton forum, not the "I just scratched my ass and want to tell you all about it Talking Stuff forum", so it's not exactly out of line to bring up in here if you think one of the posters who is actually Brett Ratten is a chump (either for his posting or coaching ability).

All the same, Molsey will give me a roundhouse to the head anyway if he's not happy. He was quite adroit at same on the mean streets of GT when he was a young enforcer.

Dont knock Tony Barber - spent 1981 Grand Final Night getting hammered with Tony Barber in the Social Club and in the "The Understand" under the Gardner Stand.

Whack

Not sure where that came from or why

I can in fact confirm that I am neither Brett Ratten (never played AFL for a start), nor the guy who produces NCIS or the bloke who created Magnum PI  Although I have been accused of being Rattens wife (also not true)

I'm a tragic who cant stop dreaming about Carlton.
had a premonition that I would be married in a Carlton Premiership year
I was - and have been since 1995.

Had another big vibe of extended finals action in 1999 whilst on holiday in country Victoria - I then watched as we went to the prelim.
woke up in a cold sweat one night in 2001
horror of horrors - financial disaster and wooden spoon to come - couldnt conceive of how I would cope with our club having this happen - I felt very very depressed - The spoons were particularly hard to take.
But the upside of this had us slowly rebuilding towards a Carlton flag in the then very distant
- but now much closer - future.

In 02 my young son was two years old when he was held by SOS on the family day
SOS declared him to be a beautiful boy.
Son is now 10 - has grown up living and breathing Carlton.
An increibly loyal supporter.
I have always told him that his loyalty will be richly rewarded soon in the most satisfying of ways - A Carlton flag.

Daughter born in 02 - likes Carlton a bit - but still young
Lived in the same home and had the same boring job all the time - but it has paid the bills
I have also bought a number of other properties. - my wife has now bought one too. property can be a bit of a bug...
Have also been busy restoring old cars - with plans for alternative fueled vehicles - another hobby.

Slightly different take on the question...

I travelled extensively through the 90s. I missed heap of footy, including the entire '95 season (was in England for most of it, and listened to Tim Lane and Smooth Booth call the GF via shortwave, sitting on the roof of my guest house in New Delhi, straining to get reception. If I had known then what I know now, I would have flown back for the finals).

Finished my long-term travels in August 2001. So many wins, so many finals, and I was away for so much of it. I came back for the last 2 rounds, then saw Kouta do his knee in the final against Richmond, as we bombed out.

I lived in Melbourne from 2002 onwards, and we didn't played finals in that time.

Three weeks ago, I moved overseas, indefinitely. In 2 weeks, we will play finals.

It seems the ability of my beloved football club to play finals is directly related to my being out of the country. I am thinking of sending an invoice to the Club. If they want to play finals, they need me out of the country. Pay up, or I'm coming home.
