..thats cos there's always plenty of good/great mids for all clubs to share, but KPP's aren't as common (rucks less so)..

..as for knockers, not sure he's gonna play much this year.. ..plus introducing a new ruck come finals is not the wisest selection move i reckon..

I personally can't see Warnock having much of an impact on THIS season, but god help the opposition next year after a full preseason, he has put on some kg's and has been part of the pre-season training in the hit out set up's !!!!!!!!!!!

Also the development of our backline as a defensive group will have a HUGE influence on team structure, not just down back but up forward as well !!!!!!!

God it is getting harder and harder picking a top 22 now !!!!!!! My ideal set up from the start of next year would look something like

QUALITY depth players. Garlett, Houlihan, Jacobs, Johnson, Russel, Scotland, Stevens, Thornton.

I see the team being able to play together for the 2-3 years to really develop together with a good spread of experience and youth. Players VERY unlucky to not be include are Stevens, Scotland and Thornton (VERY unlucky but I went for Austin over Thornton for the 3rd tall option). I

That is a pretty young and exciting team to me. Kreuzer playing a Wigginsish role as a 3rd tall, leading down the wing and linking up with Waite and Fev would be great IMO. He also adds A LOT of forwardline pressure and we all know his roving ability. Waite could kill it at CHF if ever given a decent run up there !!!!!!! and he also adds A LOT of forward line defensive pressure, as does Robinson. We all know how deadly a crumber Betts is developing into, and Yarren by his side could = one deadly crumbing squad esp considering the marking power of Kreuzer/Waite/Fev (lots of packs = lots of crumbs)

Would love to see Gibbs and Walker running wild on the wings. Hadley in the centre is my hardest spot, simply because we need him as the in and under midfielder to free up Judd and he SHOULD be there but his form hasn't warranted it to a degree (shown promise at times, but not consistant enough ATM IMO, but hopefully that will change)

Joseph will develop into a great tagger IMO and does a role for the team. Would LOVE to see the backline settle with Bower and Jamison as the 2 key big men, and Austin taking the 3rd tall. Armfield is ahead in the small defender spot, and Grigg could grow into the sweeper/rebounding defender Waite has made his own.

Hampson off the bench as a back up ruckmen who is also a great athlete, so can play up forward to stretch the oppositions defence.

Simpson and Carrazzo coming off the bench to rotate through the midfield, Browne to rotate through the Defence.

Most players can play multiple roles (Austin forward or back, Grigg back or midfield, Walker midfield or forward, Waite anywhere) so the team would have flexability and mis matches created around the ground.

I have prob missed someone somewhere, but that looks like a pretty good side to me ............

Like others I actually see Warnock as a developing ruckman, rather than being an instant answer to Sandilands for example. Warnock even when fit still has a long way to go before he is a top ruckman, but what he does have is height and a great deal of potential, including good mobility for his size.

I totally agree Virgin Blue that it will tell us a great deal about where the MC see Kreuzer's future role in the side when Warnock gets on the park. The conundrum of course is that any perceived gain in hitouts (Kreuzer is actually doing a remarkable job for a second year bigman) could be outweighed by the loss of Kreuzer's second and third efforts around the ground. Team balance will become a bit tricky once 206 comes on-line.

Firstly, I want to say that I am incredibly optimistic about our future.

However, two points:

1. People forget that Robbie Warnock, whilst potentially outstanding, is very much an UNTRIED talent and is far from a walk up start in our best 22. I wish him all the best, but he will need a few weeks to get some match fitness and form once he is fit, and he is no shoe-in to be part of our best 22 this year (or even in the future). However, I very much believe we did the right thing picking him up.

2. Whilst our youth is very exciting, it is absurd not to include guys like Scotland and Stevens in our Best 22 for next year. A lot of these young guys, whilst promising, have a long way to go before they push those blokes out of the best 22. Ditto Carrazzo, who rarely puts a foot wrong and is highly rated by the coach.
