I'll give you one guess which Ooompa Loompa she was talking about.

MW is a legend

that is what impressed me, the fact that it was a methodical win. we had a plan and stuck to it.

We didn't have much opposition on the night. In modern football all it takes is to be 10% off and you can get smashed

It was obvious that the Kangas were trying a few things and took it as a run around.

I would have thought the Kangas would have been trying to win given their membership is diving south of the border and to play games in the regional challenge is not going to get potential members to sign up any time soon.

They had a pretty much full strength team too, so not sure what they were trying on the night.

We've all heard the "heavy training" excuse so I'd be interested to hear the "just trying a few things" excuse to top it off.

Every year I think...'the Roos will lose'...

Every year they prove me wrong...

Finally will they just play to their abilities and not above them?

Melbourne should win the spoon...and the Roos should be their only competition for it.

Unless Essenbum play even worse than they did in 2008.

Thus it is hard to gauge where we are at...although I like what I saw.

Why would they throw Dean Laidleys plans out the door just to increase membership. They have a plan, they stuck to the plan.

The Swans got smashed by Port, they've never won a game in 8 years of the preseason cup and they've played in two grand finals and many years of finals.

Let me say this, winning the NAB cup is what we are setting out to do. Believe me

Wasn't it Laidley who said they wanted to win so they didn't end up playing in Broome?

Agro, it was dissapointing, I agree.

But maybe, just maybe, its because she couldn't get to anyone at Carlton, because, we are finally treating it like what it is - pre-season practice matches, a luxury that we have not had for quite a few years. Yeah, we flogged 'em, but really, who gives a shit, its the 'who cares' cup.

Love it.

Wait for the real stuff.

Oh yes I am waiting for the real stuff - and so is my wad of imported "Cohibas" - which I will light up after every game that certain teams are going to get theirs.

let me know when you are lighting up and I'll join you

The "Cohiba" is going to be my "Gold Jacket" - and will come out at GAME OVER.

More class than a "Gold Jacket" with a certain touch of je nais c'est quoi.

Because membership for them is the difference between survival an extinction. whether Dean Laidley thinks his plan is going to deliver him a Cup is irrelevant. They already stand to lose $750K because of the Dome deal they flowered up and membership is bungy jumping.

Your kidding yourself if you think the Plan is more importantly than their survival.

Winning a NAB Cup game and playing to win, isn't going to be a detriment to the season proper.

What exactly was Laidley's plan on Friday night?

Thats true but we were also trying loads of things and a few of our boys are in heavy load training.

I dont take too much out of these games but it was good to see us play good slick footy and it was good to see the kids get a good run.

I was impressed by the way our team is developing and the mood and attitude of the team looks worlds away from a few years back.

I would be even happier if we had of nailed some of our on the run goals. We seemed to stuff up a few of them. Hopefully this isnt something we neglect as running goals and making the most of our chances will go along way to helping us into the top four.

I am very happy with our progress. Hopefully we bail out of the Nab cup in the game after next (if we get passed the hawks). Then spend the following 3 weeks focussed on round 1.

Sounds like it was a good hit-out first up.

I'm in the UK and we don't get any coverage over here until the real stuff starts. I've kept an eye out on the usual channels but haven't seen the game pop-up yet, if anyone knows where I might find it can you please drop me a PM?

Cheers.

I've been meaning to point out how nice it was to make Brent Harvey's first game as captain a losing one
