As a not so one eyed blues supporter i feel envious. Both clubs are well run from top to bottom and no doubt we will get there i just prefer to be humble about it and not be laughed at like many of you[/quote]

Proof right there Melvey that your not one of us. Its our undeniable right to be arrogant and proud if you dont understand this there is no way your true blue

lmao Melvey its better to be a carlton tragic than not one. Since i live in the USA baggers are not my only thing to look forward to. If you want to know how my friday went I can tell you all about my marketing business and how i can develop a marketing plan for your place of employment. Or private life about the walk i took on the beach with the wife and kids (dogs).

Anyway I do see you posting in here every day so maybe your a lil more tragic than you think

Touche.

I am with you sandramd when you say:

The rest of the debate about how some have more things to their lives than CFC; well that goes with everybody.

We all have to live and get on with life. Spare time found through good management allows smart people the time to enjoy the Company of our fellow Navy Blue brethren.

I'm arrogant enough to say I do love Melvey (as long as he really is a true Navy Blue....or even a real supporter...or even prefers CFC to the other 15 teams...make that 17 to be.

Just noticed this on the CFC website...

http://carltonfc.com.au/tabid/4311/Defa ... wsid=69969

From the link in the CFC article:

Quote:
This season you can make a contribution that will be recognised for all time.

Your Carlton membership helps run the club and put the team on the field. Your one-off pledge for the Visy Park redevelopment (a Blue Believer) can take us that next step towards a premiership.

There are Platinum, Gold and Silver Packages that will help make this exciting project a reality.

The AFL is so competitive now that without the right facilities to develop players, clubs cannot win the premiership. All recent premierships have been won by clubs that have the benefit of using facilities that leave our current facilities far behind.

After some lean years we are starting to see resurgence on the field. With Chris Judd as captain and a brilliant group of young players, including top draft picks, this resurgence is set to continue.

The next step is crucial.
With your help we can get there.

Registration Type

Platinum $20,000.00
Gold $5,000.00
1 Silver @ $25 $25.00
2 Silver @ $50 $50.00
3 Silver @ $75 $75.00
4 Silver @ $100 $100.00
5 Silver @ $125 $125.00

I'm not really thrilled with the Platinum option where for $20,000 among other things you get your name on a player locker.

I would have thought the player lockers would be sacrosanct and not the subject of this type of sponsorship.

The player names on those lockers are each a result of blood sweat and tears for the club.

Seems pretty crass and cheap that you could get your name on a locker for a few grand.

Totally agree. It's similar to the Socceroo shirts. The ones you buy from the store aren't complete replicas. In place of the shield on the coat of arms there is a ball whereas on the shirt that you earn as a player the coat of arms is complete.

It's an honour and should be earned, it should not be purchasable.

i can't see where on the renewal, that I just received, the $25 is optional? I see levy and an extra $25 on the total. If its optional, I am more inclined to do it, but being dictated to, rubs me the wrong way. It now means I am paying more than I did last year for 2 less games in total and no mention anywhere of my reserved seat for the loss of a home game. pretty ordinary IMO. I know its only $25, but don't tell me my membership is $507 and then whack on an extra 5%. Dare I use a paganism... Don't piss down my back and tell me its raining.

I saw the extra $100 pledge on the membership renewal last night.

I hope my name doesn't appear in size 6 font where you need a magnifying glass to see it..

Good on the club, $25 per person is nothing, as members we all can't sit back and let Pratt write checks all day.

its not the amount, its the fact that we're being dictated to the iritates me. give people the option. probably find most people would tick the option box, but don't tell people if you want to be a member you must pay an extra $25. as i said previously, don't try to tell me the membership is $XXX but charge me an extra $25 on top that isn't part of the membership cost. membership cost includes a levy.

and bosman, don't tell me that we have to do our bit cos Pratt is doing his bit. I guarantee you that most members notice the $$$ they spend on their membership every year a lot more than Mr Pratt notices his donations to the club.

would you miss a $1 out of your $3000????

do you really think Dick Pratt misses $1,000,000 out his $3000,000,000 net worth????

I do my bit every year when I buy my membership. I'm 31 and have been a paid up member since I was 7. I reckon I've done my bit and am continuing to do so. I just don't like being told I haven't done enough to support the club by supporting through membership and that if i am a 'real' supporter I have to give more. Are we being run by the catholic church???

fair enough cranium. it should be a tick box rather than simply being expected.

it was a tick box for me when i renewed online, so it was an option for me at least.

That's a fair point Cranium.

I believe in your rights, and appreciate the support you have given and continue to give our great club.

You are a 'real' supporter; no doubt about that.

From the Blue Believer pamphlet - "This season you can make a contribution that will be recognised for all time""
I can't see where its says you must pay this amount.

I tell you what, if I kept putting my hand in my pocket repeatably (like Pratt has) and taking out money, yeah I would notice it.
Just because Pratt's personal wealth is on a much bigger scale than any of us, we as members of the club who elect the board to run and club can't expect these people to be dipping money in from their own pockets. Hasn't Pratt done enough, Pratt has his problems to worry about.
Membership helps the running day to day off and on the field, the blue believer is asking you to help fund something else.

My daughter goes to a Catholic school. The CFC look like saints compared to the catholic school/church, don't get me started about that.
