Actually Roy Cazaly did play reserve grade football for Carlton and was shown the door by Carlton

- he then went to St. Kilda where he played 99 senior games before leaving there as well

- it wasn't till he went to South Melbourne that he became a living legend.
Cazaly was actually named "Champion of the Colony" in 1920 (which was the highest personal accolade awarded at the time prior to the Brownlow Medal which was introduced in 1924) - he then couldnt agree to terms with St. Kilda and wanted a clearance to Carlton (possibly under Greg Williams scenario where we wanted to make amends for our earlier mistake

)- but he ended up at South Melbourne.
Oddly enough he played 99 senior games for St. Kilda and 99 Senior Games for South Melbourne for 198 VFL Games in total.
