I haven't ever seen one person in this forum say they hope Fev fails.

My issue with Fev has always been the same - his stupidity bringing embarrassment on the club. The club has made so many strides since Feb last year and is finally a professional outfit in the league once more. I hope Fev gets with that program and realises that what was tolerated before isn't acceptable now - I really do. He can win games for us, and he is one of the truly great talents in the league - but he isn't bigger than the club - especially this club with the legacy of greatness it enjoys.

I love the CLUB.

Can't argue with that.

I think the media attention he has received has been brought on by himself with his off field indiscretions, but I also feel that he is scrutinised moreso than other extraverts in the comp.

Conundrum.

So I guess you are suggesting all Carlton players should have a behavioural clause in their contracts.

From memory there is a standard clause accepted by the AFLPA regarding a code of conduct for all players.

I'm guessing that the sticky point with Fev and his upcoming contract deal is Carlton's 'next strike and your out 'clause. I'm also guessing that other clubs would strike that and offer him a clean slate whilst hovering for a chance of them gaining his signature.

Conundrum.

I would argue that by saying Fevola's on-field deeds greatly outweigh any perceived "embarrassment" he brings on the club in relation to minor off-field indiscretions. I think the football community genuinely respect and admire his matchwinning abilities, and this I believe this is what he is most renowned for. He's certainly no Ben Cousins or Wayne Carey.

I couldn't really give a rat's arse about the off-field stuff (within reason though Fevola hasn't ever crossed that line and probably won't).

What concerns me with Fev is the on-field stuff.

When he's "on" he's worth travelling across the country to see. Unfortunately he has days where he's "off".

If a Marc Murphy or a Chris Judd has an "off" day they don't make a song and dance about it - they just keep trying to work themselves back into the game. Fevola's dummy spits are the problem for me. He has a tendency to turn it into a "it's all about me" moment. Dumb undisciplined acts etc etc.

I absolutely want to keep Fevola at the club but if I was structuring a contract I wouldn't be adding clauses concerning his off-field behaviour. It'd all be to do with his on-field behaviour.

Far more destructive for our club from where I'm sitting.

Not all all - in fact I don't even want Fev to have one. I think a verbal agreement that he's out if he plays up again is enough.

The only thing I expect from players is 100% effort for the team on the track, and respecting the opportunity their gifts and hard work have allowed them by not embarrasing the club and acting the fool off it. Their responsibility to the club and everything it stands for doesn't end when they walk off the park after the last siren.

It's a good thing the WCE didn't put any rules on their players. Who knows, they might have an extra Brownlow medalist or two still on their list.

Boys I dont post much but i love reading talking Carlton but i have to say Fev is a legend.

Hes an absolute gun hes achievements the last few years is remarkable.
He has energy and enthusiasm he is a geniune team lifter.

I love this club and we havent had much to get excited about but the last few years i been going to the games Im always Excited cos Fev might just kick a bag.

On the footy show all Fev said is he wants three years and he wants to stay at the club, nothing wrong with that for the premier fullforward in the league.

Off-field Fev is a Lads lad the type of bloke you love going out for a beer with. Pissing outside a bar in the morning is nothing im sure we have all had a leek somewhere we are not supposed to. Sleeping with Lara Bingle im sure even the most loyal husband might be in trouble.

Geniune bloke who doesnt fake it off the field or on the field. He way not be a gentlemen or a scholar, he may not become husband of the year and win Aussie citizen of the year award but he is a football player and a great one at that. Fev is not putting a knife to the clubs throat. This is called negotiation and the club and Fev will meet somwhere in the middle.

We are playing last years premiers and we might not win but one thing i know ill be there and Ill get excited once again cos Fev might kick a bag!

I love the name BlueDiesel!

It's a ripper.

Great post BD.

Fev has been a shining light for us for many years. When CFC was winning spoons Fev won a Coleman wearing the Dark Navy Blue jumper (99% of the time). Bloody white jumper (summer top)
