1 Chris Judd (Elite Player, should be the best easily if he is fit)

2 Nick Stevens (Very Good)

3 Brendan Fevola (Great when on fire,Has He Reached His Peak although? I hope not)

4 Heath Scotland (Good Player for years,Underrated)

5 Bret Thornton (Has had the toughest job in AFL History, people here under rate him)

6 Ryan Houilhan (Beautiful Skills, should be up forward as he knows how to deliver to Fevola best and a good player. I know some don't like him)

7 Kade Simpson (Improving Every Year)

8 Brad Fisher (We need him in our team, pretty important player)

9 Andrew Walker (Hopefully this year, will be the year he becomes a great player)

10 Jarrad Waite (Has all the potential to be great, but time passing him to hold one position)

11 Andrew Carrazoo (O.K,this low because of his poor/Average delivery,Has He Reached His Peak although?)

12 Marc Murphy (Should be top 5,hopefully soon.Don't worry about his kicking,he will get back)

13 Adam Bentick (Looking at the list he would be next,he isn't quick, but he is under rated in what he does in a game)

There you go, we have a solid 12 players, maybe 13.

The next group are kids and the others, some of the kids will make the top 10

14 Bryce Gibbs (Already shown he will make great steps to be already in our top 10)

15 Sentanta Ohailipin (Hopefully will improve more, but i put Gibbs already in front, with his skills)

16 Eddie Betts (Some would say he would be equal or better then Bentick, but he goes missing way too much,he needs to kick a bag, once in a while,Brent Heaver and Brad Pearce did it for us and Jeff Farmer and others do it for other AFL clubs. My fear is he may have reached his best already)

17 Simon Wiggins (Yes folks,he still in the 22,but will he be for long,a tough year for him, when there is new players)

18 Cameron Cloke (Showed enough last year to be in our best 22,hopefully continues, could be CHF)

19 Jordan Bannister (Always does well to get in and play all of the second half, needs a full year to survive)

20 Richard Hadley (Is this high or low,i'm not sure, don't really know much on him,but looked good this week)

21 Jordan Russell (Jordan should be higher at this stage, but rarely done a lot at this stage)

22 Paul Bower (I think may have cemented a spot in the team for now, needs to improve his skills for sure)

23 Jason Saddington (A tough year for Jason, depends how he goes early,he does o.k,but is their a future?)

24 Shaun Grigg (Hasn't played a lot,but will this year move right up as i seen some good things)

25 Michael Jamison (He will overtake a few this year if he continues on from last year)

26 Shaun Hampson (Should bolt this year in the 22)

27 Luke Blackwell (Hopefully he can play straight away and get a season as others are taken over, needs to perform early)

28 Cain Ackland (Didn't show much last year, some would say why hampson and others ahead of him, well he doesn't do much)

29 Ryan Jackson (Has a lot of mids to compete with, hopefully he can make it as he finds the ball a bit)

30 Joe Anderson (Did well, should move forward, unfortunetly been quiet hearing about him this year so far)

31 Matthew Kreuser (Hasn't played the real season, but already shown more then others, hoefully a top 5,one day very soon)

32 Adam Hartlett (Injuries unfortunetly, pity his down this low, tough year for him, needs a break to survive)

33 Jake Edwards (Injuries also, needs a break too see what he has got)

34 Darren Pfeiffer (Had a great 1 game at the NAB cup, will be interesting too see how he goes)

35 Mark Austin (Hasn't played much yet, fingers cross he will be a good player as we need defenders)

36 Asaike Ohailipin (Don't know yet, look good for the Bullants.I really like too see him make it,the guy looks a beast)

37 Clinton Benjamin (Injuries,Don't know yet,did some really nice things at the Bullants, but people say he can't kick? I really like too see him make it,looks a beast like Asaike)

38 Dennis Armfield (New player, showed a little at the NAB cup,not sure how he go in the 22)

39 Dave Ellard (New Rookie player, showed a little at the NAB cup.I'm tipping he will get a gig in the season)

40 Steven Browne (New player, yet too see)

41 Sam Jacobs (2nd year rookie, needs a super year to get promoted)

42 Aaron Joseph (New Rookie player yet too see)

43 Lachlan Hill (New Rookie player yet too see)

44 Micheal Shields (New International Rookie player yet too see)

We have a solid 12 players with up and coming players Bryce Gibbs and Matthew Kreuser.Shaun Hampson and Shaun Grigg should work out for us.Adam Bentick,Eddie Betts,Richard Hadley are o.k also.

Jordan Russell,Paul Bower,Ryan Jackson,Joe Anderson,Clinton Benjamin,Mark Austin and most of the others are hard to predict. Some will be gone after this year, who have been on the list for a few seasons,We really need some to turn good or we will be in trouble.

The list is very thin still in my opinion. Then again we have been pretty much starting from scratch if you look at the team from 2004,that contains only 13 of 43 listed players.

I would think any club would struggle for 5-8 years, just look at Fremantle and Brisbane did when they first joined the comp with pretty much new players or recycled players.

It is pointless to put a rating on players so early into their development as half that list hasen't even played at AFL level. It will take almost the entire season for the players to understand and effectively implement Rattens gamesplan and another full preseasn to improve the skill base to the programs set by Ratten. This year our best 22 will depend more on team balance and form rather than players ranking.

I suspect you've got Thornton so high because of his importance to our side. But in terms of quality, he's nowhere near our top 5 IMO.

I'd also swap Jackson for Russell. Jacko is easily in our best 22 at the moment, and definitely has more runs on the board in games than Russell.

Not a bad effort though, but I suspect by July, half that list is going to change based on youngsters improving (for example, it won't be long before Gibbs leapfrongs Bentick, Grigg overtakes Wiggo, and Hammer takes Cloke.

I'd have Waite well ahead of Walker and perhaps Stevo is a little overrated but the rest is pretty good IMO.

5-13 with the exception of Murphy would struggle to be starting 22 at Geelong, and at least 5 other clubs

That is the reality of our list

Good list - agree with some comments that at this stage of development its fairly difficult to rate most of the players given that they havent had a yr under ratten. The only commets I'd make would be that Jamison should be MUCH higher and betts/bentick much lower

I agree on Jamison probably jumping them some stage but i tried to be fair on the players on how many AFL games they played.Betts and Bentick have played over 50 games and some real good games, but may find it tougher.

I'm probably a little tough on Ackland as he played most last year and Blackwell and Jackson being a little lower then Hampson,Grigg and maybe Bower.

If Blackwell and Jackson get in the 22 this year and cement it they will rise, but i expect Bower,Hampson and Grigg getting roles before them in round 1.

I like Jackson, but i'm not sure where he will play with all our other midfield,Grigg and Bower can do a job in the backline.

The guys 35-44 are pretty much the same,so they wouldn't be sweating. I just put the 2nd year players in front who are on the list ahead.

I know what you mean, don't take notice too much on the players from 34-44,they basically equal, but some who have been their longer are getting over taken by younger guys,so they in a bit of trouble.

In my oh-so-well-honed footy experience, I would put the following in our top 22
1 A Walker
2 J Russell
5 C Judd
6 K Simpson
7 A Bentick
8 M Kreuzer
10 R Hadley
14 B Fisher
17 S O hAilpin
22 S Hampson
24 N Stevens
25 B Fevola
28 C Cloke
29 H Scotland
30 J Waite
33 R Houlihan
38 R Jackson
44 A Carrazzo
Pfeiffer
Brown

With the following on the bench
3 M Murphy
4 B Gibbs
9 J Saddington
19 E Betts

No-shows in my top-22 would be
11 C Ackland
34 B Thornton

Wiggins and Aisake would rate in my top 30

Pfeiffer and Brown Brown
