Every game players swing the elbow to shrug off the opposition holding on to them. It's more to break their hold than to strike them.

The fact they miss is due partly to them keeping the elbow far enough away and the opposition moving out of the way and releasing their hold.

The fact Waite hit him was as much to do with Osborne (I think) not moving as it was Waite being careless.

A reprimand is a fair outcome in this case.

I wonder if it would have been 50m if he hadn't struck him. It should have been under NAB Cup rules.

It should have been a 50m penalty even under normal rules.
