Maybe Setanta is well and truly over rated by most of us on this site.

(I don't know what the winks for)

It is beside the point, a player like Setanta can be overrated and still deserve a place in our top twenty-two.

Have heard that some on the match committee think Setanta's development has hit a bit of wall in recent months. May not be in Ratts' best 22.

Don't know if I agree with this, or how they reach that conclusion withId there I no footy played, but I'm just passing on what I've heard (Source rating - 6.5-7.0 out of 10)
Is there room for Jamison, Waite, Thornton & Setanta anyway?

There can only be room for all 4 if they're rotated off the bench, and even then I get feeling we'd like to see Bower as the extra tall anyway.

Apparently Simpson said on 3AW this morning that Jamison will play all 22 games bar injury.

They must really rate Jamison down there. I'm not basing this on Setanta missing the game (because he did have a niggle) but I just get the feeling that Jamison may have overtaken him in the coaches mind in terms of the FB position.

So in other words you must play this guy just because he is Irish and popular with a lot of supporters, regardless how shit he is.

Somehow I always had the feeling that most of the players if not all of them never had confidence in Setanta playing along side them as they hardly looked for him when passing the ball in fear of stuffing up.
Saying all that I must agree that he played some good games last year, anyway it’s just an observation by me after watching different replays that’s all.

what everyone else think?

I'll take it that RR was on the money and So'H was carrying an injury. I think Jamo is promising but he also has a way to go. He seemed in trouble against height and was outmarked in one on ones against a couple of big Port guys I'd never heard of.

Jamo also has the mandatory ordinary disposal so prized at Carlton. Maybe we are over-rating Setanta, but he was only given about 8 games at full back and then was moved to the ruck where he had never played.

In his few games at FB he got club votes against Richo and Lynch, beat Lloyd, got beaten by J Brown who kicked 3 (but he kicked 10 on Waite). I think we need a tall, quick, strong defender. I think that both Jamo and TBird are better suited to smaller opponents, for instance Jamo did a good job on Medhurst and Tbird on Didak in the Pies game.

I am not sold on Waite at CHB, has the talent but loses concentration and still can do the awful as well as the sublime, and we have no CHF so I'd have him up forward. Anyway we will wait and see, but I think we need to give Bower, Jamo and So'H plenty of games in defence if we are to develop a defence for the furture

It's a pity KB didn't ask Ratten.

I love Setanta's run out of defence. I think he's best suited down there, but not necessarily always taking the key forward. He played okay up forward, was a presentable lead and showed he can kick a long goal, but down back is where he has done his best work and he should be persisted with down there.

It's funny how there were accolades on Santy at various times throughout last year, but just one little niggle, and everyone's on here bagging him, and the "here, here-ers" and "I told you so'ers" are being justified.

Go Carlos, his determination will get him over the line...just like it did Simmo when the majority of people were saying he was shit - and for a long time!

i like carlos in defence, but i think he can play anywhere. CHF might be the go for him and the club. he is 199cm can take a big mark, kick and his def pressure would be handy. carlos and fev together in the forward line. thats scary for the other 15 teams.

Well we obviously have faith in Aisake as evidenced by the fact we promoted him.
