From Julie-Anne Davies's report in 'The Bulletin'

Quote:
But you have to wonder why Judd wanted to go to Carlton ahead of Collingwood - a team with a real chance of playing in a grand final in the next two years. Or the team he grew up barracking for, Melbourne?

Pfffttt! She MUST be a Collingwood supporter!

I'll put my balls on the line here and suggest that the Pies will struggle to even make the 8 next season. They were very lucky this year................oh hang on, Lucky is an incorrect word.............GIFTED is more the correct term, by being HANDED to them by the AFL 13 games in a row at the MCG!

No Buckley & No Clement is gonna cost em!

The Nisbet rationale that Carlton Finishing 2nd last whilst still claiming the first selection via priority instead of Richmond who finished last clearly ignores the fact that the priority system has determined that the measure of eligibility both morally and technically is also considered over 2 consecutive seasons. It clearly ignores that these guidelines are far greater than what they once were and that The tigers may still qualify next year should they be as unfortunate as we once were.
Nisbet you flower ( in the floral sense) the intent of the system the creation of an equal competition has been served.

..well if roo's is worried about all the inequaties in the afl, he can reduce his clubs TPP to be the same as the vic teams.. ..i'm sure that would help balance the scales.. ..as for nisbett, he seems to forget that judd was out of contract, and in many ways he's lucky a trade was done in the first place, since it need not have been a trade at all..

Nisbett is an absolute goose, he thinks his club was hardly done by.

The club that is able to spend thousands of extra dollars per week on development, has an economy booming so their players arepayed through "financial advice", has an entire state following them and has a 2 year + waiting list on memberships. Has a ground whose dimensions give thier team the advantage every week, a ground where opposition supporters arent even eligible to get seats and when players want to return home WCE only have to fight it out with the dockers, not a bunch off other clubs
Yeah, things are real unfair.

Wet Toast got 3, kennedy and 20 - when they could have got nothing.
One thing goes wrong and he has a teary

The Carlton Faithful have had a dose of what will become more and more common in the near future.

For if 2008 is a year of an amazing turnaround, people will be barely able to contain their hatred and jealousy.

If we do win a flag early (and I have always maintained that we will) , the vitriol and bile will flow and freely and in great volume.

It will be a sick and sad sight to behold.

Nothing can be done for these sad, wretched souls who are motivated mainly by hatred , fear and jaelousy.

Actually, I find their tragic reactions to be a source of amusement. plenty of laughs are had at their expense.

But it is good to see that we have plenty who are happy to fly the flag when it is required.

No, Roosy the $800,000 extra salary cap allowance never helped you win a flag ... Sydney won because you are such a super coach

Love all this whingeing from other clubs

As for Nisbett ... you've got a huge problem on your hands ... you lost Judd because you continually turned a blind eye to the goings on with your players and ex players ... win at all costs has hit a new level at the Eagles

Chris Judd is a man of integrity, who was in an environment where there was a culture which became increasingly difficult to tolerate.

I can fully understand why someone under those circumstances would become very homesick.

In some ways both Nisbett and Roos are right, and I am inclined to agree with them when I put my 'non-biased' hat on.

BUT what we have to remember is that it only came down to this through the actions of the AFL, and the compliance of other clubs such as Sydney and West Coast in allowing us to be royally screwed over for the last six years. Where were Sydney and West Coast when we were getting stripped of draft picks? Where were Sydney and West Coast when the AFL changed the system on us so that our priority picks were taken lower down the ladder?

Yeah... I reckon we've been a little grubby about how we have gone about all of this. But, we were almost forced into it by years of being stuffed around by the AFL Commission and 15 other Clubs. In the end, this type of dealing and playing was the only respite we had for trying to re-engineer the revival of this footy club.

And I'll tell you one thing... when we are playing West Coast in Perth next year and Sydney in Sydney then you won't hear too much winging from these guys at the gate receipts that are coming in because of the number of bums on seats that are there to see the premier player in the land play alongside the 2005, 2006, and 2007 number one draft picks.

In the end we used the system... but we had to. West Coast were the unfortunate victims (it could have been one of any of the other clubs)... but overall it is just recompense for years of abuse from the rest of the AFL fraternity.

Absolutely spot on Molly - couldn't have summed it up better myself.

We got absolutely screwed in 2002 and were screwed at every turn since then - the changing of the Priority Pick qualification criteria last year amounted to us getting DRAFT PENALTIES AGAIN - and our crime was nothing more than being crap and finishing on the bottom 2 years in a row whereas "The Filth" actually tanked that season and got Pick 2 and 5.

The hypocracy of the other clubs is amazing.

I only wish we did win our 3rd wooden spoon in a row this year then you would have seen Judd come to us in the PSD for nothing - then you would have seen sooks and the shit hit the fan, but for once I would have agreed with Demetrispew and said to all the shitheads whinging about tanking - "No you are all delusional - tanking does not happen".
