Why have we lost the ferocious attack on the ball that we had in the nab cup ?? it seems that we can't hack the presure of the season proper why? we looked alot better in the nab cup

The NAB cup is a practice game and the sooner we realise this the better.

NAB cup form means nothing

But still better to win it than not win it. There are only 2 grand finals each year and we have won one of them. :-D

The alternative: not winning the NAB final and still being 14th on the premiership ladder. :(

Hmmm... I had a Monday reflection this time. I can not believe the negativity on this site atm.

People whine and carry on as if we are a top 4 team that has lost 4 in a row….

Let’s look at some of the things that get up my nose:

1. We have actually played a far better brand of football then last year for long phases of most games. The Brisbane game was nominated by commentators as probably the game of the season. The Essendon* come back was a classic, and most commentators were very complementary towards Carlton’s efforts on Saturday. The same people who were predicting a 100 point thrashing are treating the loss as a catastrophe – against a team that is now 5 and 2 and the week before beat the Crows (top of the ladder) in Adelaide…. People who now are slashing their wrists said BEFORE the season that as long as we play attacking football and are competitive – they don’t mind if we loose. So far we only really were uncompetitive in the WC game.

2. People criticize the fact that Carlos was played in the ruck and demand that Aisake or Hamster are played instead. Firstly Carlos did quite well, and secondly bringing players in who are not ready will NOT help. People have been demanding and complaining that Bower be played. Now he was – and well, the result was not impressive.

3. The forward line set-up is being used to smash DP – but who is responsible for it? Ratten is the forward coach. But we can not criticize him…. Can we? Assistant coaches are very important (and wasn’t that pointed out when Trout was AC), but in the witch hunt and lynch mob atmosphere here this is not being discussed (mind you I want DP replaced – but really – lets be fair).

4. The long kicking style is being heavily criticized – but it works very well for the Kangas at the moment. Let’s discuss instead why it works far better for them.

5. It really irks me that players who actually overall perform quite well – ieg. Carazzo on the weekend are being lambasted.

6. Never seen so many new threads for every negative aspect.

I wish everybody a lovely week. Most people thought – myself included - that we would end up somewhere between 12 and 14 – and we probably still will. Next year we will have a new coach (I’m certain about that) – some more talent and a bunch of more developed talent with more games to their credit. If we cant start challenging for 8th spot next year – then I will be pissed off…..

Good post Mikkey. But I guess that after 5 seasons of poor performancces most of us have had a gutfull of losing and its easy to loose perspective of where the club is at.

On Saturday I felt totally gutted and felt that I couldn't take anymore of this misery - particularly losing to filth. But most of us are made of sterner stuff than this and will front up again next Saturday in the hope of rolling the roos. :)
