Jars, you're right, now that the change has been made it's a bit futile going back, or rather, changing again. Until we get some evidence from the club as to what instigated the change we'll all be running around in circles guessing as to their reasons for intiating the change in the first place. I think johntall has put the industry speak case forward very well.

Moreover, to counter your comment on the wreath looking old and stuffy that could easily be countered with an alternate, yet complementary version of the logo. Think Coca-Cola vs Coke logos. Instead what we got, was one new logo that does not work in harmony with the old logo, and as many have suggested does not look proportinately correct.

At the point in time the change occured, our history was our strongest selling point of genuine merit (ie. before Murph and Gibbs). It is right that we do need to look to the future, for both success and off-field longevity, I just think that the club tinkered with one of it's greatest brand assets in what appears to be a poor execution of what could be considered a misguided brief.

If you look closely at the new logo it is actually not that different from the old CFC from the wreath version. Simply put back hammer's notches on the two Cs and not only would you win back the die hards, but you'd also correct the imbalance their removal has left us with.

I'd be extraordinarily surprised if that would drive away the all important youth market. Winning over the youth starts with a united board with a clear and concise direction. Unless I'm very much mistaken that did not happen until recently and had little to do with the alterations to the logo.

I guess the club is to be applauded for trying to right a perceived wrong in our marketing strategy. It's just the method with which they established what that wrong was and then the methods employed with which to rectify that alleged wrong that we're debating.

Jarusa, please stick to the topic. This thread is NOT about laurel wreaths, and nothing laurel-esque has appeared on the jumper since 1933.
Your line of argument is just clouding the issue.

How about we have a few people put in their own designs following a simple brief (KK has already done one)?

1) Navy Blue background, White CFC monogram.

Jarusa, where can we get the original monogram artwork? EPS vector file would be ideal.

The logo isn't superimposed, it's a frosted glass door, which has been backlit to highlight the logo.

But, yes, I get your point.

FOXSPORTS are using the 'notched' (98/03) carlton monogram on their graphics.

I never introduced the sub-argument about the club logo/letterhead argument, I was just responding to others who had introduced it.

Foxtel used the notches in their team vs team graphics last year as well, interesting to see they used the new monogram in the match ups graphics before the game though. Looks like they have not updated some of their graphics for two years now.

Which logo would you like a graphic of, the wreath logo or the new logo? I have a large jpg of the new logo? Don't think I have anything of a decent size of the wreath logo, but could do a scan if you want.

Jarusa, I would liike to receive EPS format for both 33/97 monogram and 98/03 monogram thanks. If this is not possible, then I can scan monograms from tiltle page of THE BLUE BOYS (Hansen).
