Prenda would under the pump but he would have a few mates like about another 10-15. As Mick and others have said you can only have so many blue collar workers in the team and its where do you draw the line.
For mine Prenda has played best when roaming the midfield and playing like the old fashioned follower.....as others have said forget KP spots..been tried and found wanting....its become my cliche on this site but we have too many Indians and not enough Chiefs and while Prenda is a fine Indian we need some more class in the lineup.....tough call for Denis...

how?

does anyone have any psych data on this?

Just common sense. Playing a kid before he's ready where he'll likely gets pushed around, very little of the ball and spends most of the time on the bench is hardly going to improve his confidence or benefit the club in the long term. Better he gradually improve in the twos and then get promoted into the seniors when he seems ready to take that step up.

Always been a bit of a prenda fan. I know his limitations, lack of footy nous, poor body work against big opponents, but i just don't think he's been used much this year. Saturday was his first game back from injury and before that he'd spent most of the time on the bench. His size and mobility make hime handy. get him on the ball trying to use his strength at clearances and then try and get a mismatch in size so we can use him as a marking target. We have got a lot of good triers, but i'd perservere with prenda, i think his last couple of years have been good.

He needs to be settled down into a position, he should be played as the 3rd key defender or as a part time ruckmen/forward!

But its not common sense. The thrill of making it in the 1's, playing the big game, could arguably be much more powerful. You think Setanta will crawl into his shell because of Saturday? No freakin' way - if they're good enough, play them, for when they hit 30-50 games they will be a much more mature player.

what 'e said

for every 1 player who's soul is crushed by the inexorable weight of playing AFL footy "too soon", I could name 5 who have benefitted greatly from the experience and exposure.

I want to see solid psychological data before I'll believe "it'll ruin them for life" clap-trap

I think if Prenda's going to make it, then they need to bite the bullet and try and develop him as a key position defensive option. I recognise that he hasn't shone when he's been tried in that position before, but long-term it's the only realistic option for him. He won't be a 2nd ruckman for the next 5 years at his height. And I doubt very much whether he'll remain in midfield, once we're able to inject a little more skill and talent into there. He's not skilled enough to play forward. So defence is all that's left.

If he could ever learn the art of spoiling and mugging forwards, he'd be able to generate some attacking run (and take his forward out of position) with the super motor that he has.

Has he ever been tried on the rest ruckman? He has the body to take them on but not neccessarily the height though he does have good reach.

That is his opption, ruck-tag/winger
